I'm putting a tbelt on and left the auto tensioner in there. Anyways, I screw in a long bolt till I can put a 1/16" allen wrench in the auto tensioner. What do I do after that? Should the tensioner pulley be tightened at this point? Following the chilton it says to remove the allen wrench and take the bolt out but that just puts the tensioner right back where it was so the allen wrench won't fit. Shouldn't the allen wrench be able to fit in the hole when the belt is tensioned and all is said and done?

Yes after the auto tensioner is compressed and you have something to keep it in place, allen wrench or drill bit or whatever, remove the long bolt you compressed it with and set the tension with the tensioner pulley. After the tension is set on with the pulley you remove the pin in the auto tensioner and it will most likely take up a little more slack after you rotate the engine clockwise a couple times and you will not be able to get the pin to go back in the hole all the way.

ok sounds easy enough. I thought the way to tell if the tension was set correctly was that you could still fit an allen wrench in the hole. If thats incorrect then how can I tell that I got it right? Do you know how much deflection the belt should have between the cams?
