time for a rebuild or not?

ok this is what happened bought a gsx was unaware that it burnt/leaked oil ran the oil dangerously low and spun a bearing, but i was out with my car today and i was doin some mods i took the dump tube out and forgot to plug the MAS back in and started the car up and didnt hear the Knocking noise, but then i realized that the MAS wasnt in so i pluged it in and it started to knock again. this totally blew my mind and i have no other explanation for y this happened does anyone know why thisa could be?

How do you know it spun a bearing? Motors with spun bearings usually don't run well or at all. Metal shavings get in the oil and one dead bearing leads to lots of dead bearings which leads to a very very dead motor. When my 7 bolt spun a rod bearing, the piston hit the head, that's how close the clearances are. Of course its time for a rebuild if there really is a spun bearing, I'm amazed the car moves under its own power. Why keep running it and making it worse? Either the crank is tearing its way through the rod journal or the crank is trying to slowly eat its way out of the main bearing caps.

What does a knocking noise have to do with anything if you already know what the problem is? I think the real question is, how did you're car start and run without the MAF plugged in.WTF
