I´ve been modding my car for the last year including engine rebuild, suspension and brakes..

Got to the point were I was able to drive it but then noticed I was leaking oil from the oil pan gasket and the return pipe...so I removed the downpipe, transfer case and the left axle (john holmes mofo) to be able to take the oil pan off and cover it with gasket sealant...then when it was all back together and i was driving around and testing the car I started to hear this annoying "tick","rick","tick" sound coming from under the front/middle of the car (the sound was NOT there prior to my oil leakage fix)...so I pulled up in the garage for a look and I checked on transmission and transfer case for oil (seem to be good)
also took a look at the driveshaft and it was o.k. aswell so I decided to pull out the axle again and make sure it was properly seated in the transmission and the bracket was fastened properly to the bach of the engine block...then put all together once again and backed out of the garage...guess what!?!? the noise is still there and it seems to get higher and faster along with the road speed..I can hear it in 1st,2nd and 3rd...didnt check for 4th and 5th(didnt think i had to)....BUT in Reverse the sound is not there no matter how fast I back up...

any suggestions...getting kinda pissed...well patience is cure for everythung but mine is running out...

Does the noise only happen at a certain RPM or above? Can you create the sound by revving it in neutral or is it only when the car is moving?

Get us some more info and we'll be happy to help,

Andy

The sound seems to appear after the clutch has been engaged and the car is moving..somewhere above 2mph when it appears...and it does not occour when reving the car in neutral or like I said before reversing...

the sound wasnt there before I removed the left axle and transfer case...dont know wtf Im m issing but I´m 90% positive it has something to do with the 2 above..

thanks for the help and all suggestions greatly appreciated

I'd check to make sure the two bolts on your intemediate shaft are tight. Another thing, your output shaft from the tranny to transfer case didn't slide out when you removed the transfer case did it?

The two bolts on the half shaft bracket I made sure they were tight after I discovered the sound, removed the half shaft out off the tranny and after inspection, while putting it back in I felt like it should be able to go deeper in the tranny but after alot of trying to shove that thing for awhile it seemed it to be normal IMO....is there a possibility the problem could be the transfer...not sitting properly on the tranny?

Check your axels. Could be wear on one of your axels and its letting you know it is about to go.

well problem FIXED....thing is that the heatshield for the exhaust was hitting a part of the driveshaft..
