i was reading about the Spring stiffness on a Tial Bov,but im not clear on one thing. My vac sits between 19-17.So i got the right spring (silver color).but what if i have a gm maf ? should i need to put a softer or stiffer spring??? Im running 21psi of boost.

i came up with this question, because my bov is fluttering all the time,no mater if you cruising or doing WOT pulls .My bro was running the same Bov and tial wastegate,50 trim turbo.(i bought all these goodies from him) and he didn;t had any problems with fluttering at all,but he had a 2g maf,not gm maf .....

I'm also running the 7lb spring. Personally, I'd run the lightest one they have, you just want to get the air out as quick as possible, it's not going to leak under boost, and if you're running blow-thru, it won't matter if it leaks a little at idle. Just my .02.

I've wondered about this too. I have a chinabay knockoff blowoff that came with my FMIC and piping kit, and it has an adjusting nut for spring tension. I just left it at it's lightest setting. I'm really not sure if it opens at idle, but I would assume it does. What if it doesn't.

I can't understand why you would want a heavier spring. If you increase the boost pressure setting won't the boost hold the BOV shut just as much, or more than it tries to push it open?

The maf has nothing to do with the tial spring, it depends on your vacuum.

is it normal for Tial bov to be open at idle?? if not, what should i do??

It should not be open, although i see no ill effects with it being slightly open because the maf is after the bov.

i just went for a test drive and recorded some video of the problem that i have now,if im going 15 psi, everything is ok,but when i turn to the amount ,that i have it tuned(21psi) ,it just do some crazy things,it looks like something doesnt hold boost

sorry for a bad video quality

im also running a tail bov im not sure what springs is in there but it opens at idel i have no issues. i did run it with a maf transltor and an safc2 and had no issues

well i discovered a new thing, umm i turned boost up to 28 psi,and then car ran really strong ,was holding boost steady. But again when i turned the boost down to 21 psi, problems started again,When im doing WOT pulls, at WOT the bov releases pressure as you can hear in video.I opened the bov and everything seemed fine.... HM........:confused::confused:

my bov is always open, well on an operating temperature its open whole the time, but on a cold start it is closed, and when i rev up a bit,it just opens a lilbit.to open it up completely i got to rev to like 6500 rpms

could it be wastegates spring?? i mean could it be that the spring is to hard for my vac?? because i know the wastegates are daaamn loud when they open up,but mines is really quite, even Bov is louder then my wastegate....

Well, the BOV shouldn't be open, when the car is it at normal operating temp. Something is not right. You may be up for a lighter spring. Just call Tial first, talk to them, see what they will say about running a lighter 7psi or 9 psi springs with an engine vacuum readings are for like 11psi spring and make up your mind.

Before I had a little problem with my TIAL BOV, it was fluttering between shifts when I was at like part throttle/low boost/. If I shift at WOT and full boost - not a problem, so I had to change the spring and everything went right. Like you posted above/ when you ran the car@ 28PSI was good, but later with 21PSI-bad. Kind of same scenario as I had. I suggest go for softer-7PSI spring and I think you'll be all right.

ok Hrre is how my wastegate is connected:

i got Hallman boost controller
The Line from turbo compressor goes to the bottom Boost controllers nipple
the line from wastegate goes to the boost controllers side nipple
the Bov has the line coming straight from the intake manifold

Does it look good?

Yeaah i know ExtremePsi is my num 1 source of any parts, great deals, great guys, and its good that i live 15 mins away LOL LOL) so im gonna go and prob get a new softer springs for my bov and for the wastegate

Btw I went to Extremepsi not that long ago,and the guys checked my wastegate and said, that there is no problem, the spring is right and stuff like that, but i don't know about the Bov......

Well, I hope my spring works well. I'd hate to spend another thirty dollars on a stinkin BOV, no wonder people are pushed towards knockoffs. $30 for a tiny spring... cmon.

for 30 bucks you can get a knock off LOL ,where 30 bucks the real bovs spring costs LOL) well tomorrow,im gonna have some news, ill let you guys know if my problem solved with softer springs or not....

Those springs aren't that tiny...
