ive searched the forums for a while now and i cant find an answer to my problem... i just installed 280 cams and a tial 44mm wastegate... i started the car up for the first time today and the wastegate is stuck open! i only have -10 on my vacume guage and i think that might be a problem due to my cams... has anyone had this problem before?

Even the pressure hose install incorrectly it should not leak at idle. Make sure you install the valve seat that come with the wastegate..

i opened the tial box, installed the vacume nipple and bolted it to my manifold. i never opened it up or took the housing apart yet. so i dont think the cwastegate is the issue at this point... the only thing i can think of is like a BOV, if the spring tention is not great enouph it opens... well isnt this the same with a wastegate? i think they come with a tiny 6lb spring. this wastegate is on a 2.3 stroker bored .040 so its alot larger then a little honda engine ( the only thing i can see running only 6lbs of psi ) I think im going to have to buy some other springs for this thing.

Just pull out all the pressure hose attached to the wastegate and see whether it still leaking or not. If it install correctly with all the hardware it should not leak at idle even with 6lbs of spring and super duper engine capacity unless the valve is jammed open all the time.

The BOV work with vacum but the wastegate work with pressure.. see where you source the pressure.

Then you need to check whether the valve seat install correctly.. just open the inlet clamp and see whether it there..

That is the valve seat, I was talking about. It helps create perfect seal around the valve. If it isn't there WG leaks/it bypasses the turbo already a little. It leaks at idle too.

Its actually called a fire ring and yes its essential to proper operation of your wastegate, please install it.
