Strange thing happened yesterday, I did an oil change on my car and noticed that the rubber cap I had on the boost source nipple on my intercooler pipe had a split in it. Even with the split it was boosting 20psi no problem, so I put a new cap on it and now I cant get past 5psi. I have the Tial mvs 38mm with o2 housing from punishment with a 17psi spring. I tried hooking up just from compressor to the wastegate bypassing my mbc and boost only builds to about 3psi...I've done boost leak test, replace all the hoses incase one was split but still nothing, I'm stumped...possible that a brand new wastegate is stuck open?? any way of checking without having to pull the damn thing off?:notgood:

Finally. Someone with the SAME EXACT problem I have. Have been running like this for almost 4 months now with no solution. I'm swapping out to another exhaust thinking my inner-mesh to my downpipe has maybe collapsed when I get my paycheck to hopefully cure this problem. Which could be by too much pressure? (as if it was a stock exhaust, not enough flow)

Cause I've tried just about everything else.

Tial 38mm. Vacuum line that goes from Intake Manifold to External Waste Gate burned on top of my exhaust manifold. My problem has started ever since that has happened. Haven't heard my waste gate scream in months.

weird thing is, I was boosting fine even though the little rubber cap was split, then when I capped the nipple with a new one I have no boost. I cant figure it out, I'm not even hearing any spool up, yet turbo spins freely,no shaft play, no leaks, doesnt burn oil, I am 100% stumped, all I can come up with is this brand new Tial gate is stuck open and since I only just got the car on the road after installing new turbo/ wastgate I dont really want to pull it all off again just to check.

Turned out to be the springs in the wastegate were overheated and stayed in their compressed state, Punishment has since sent me new springs and I am boosting normal again-closed

I've also seen the mistake of hooking a line with vacume up to the top of the gate and making it be open under vacum leaking noise/exhaust and other than tht wasn't too teriible,, once some boost hit it would stay closed but not open when needed..

jsut another FYI for the poeple

Yet another tidbit to add to this thread: my precision wastegate was staying stuck open a hair and it was driving me nuts, after taking the thing apart entirely i found there was a small set screw that had loosened its way out of the shaft that holds the valve and it wasnt allowing the valve to close all the way resulting in no boost and an annoying exhaust leak.
