After searching for the answer, it doesn't look like this is a very common done fix, so I'll ask the question if someone knows different I'd appreciate a response.

After a boost leak test, I discovered my #3 injector insulator was leaking and the BISS. I replaced all the insulators and the BISS O ring. They sealed up nicely, but now I have a leak at the TB shaft. Most obvious is the TPS side and I took the TPS off and RTV'd the flat rubber gasket and the TPS body to TB face. Still leaks and it sounds like the other side with the Throttle cable return spring is attached.

So my question is can this seal be replaced or do I have to find a new TB. I did the test to about 20PSI and it leaks down so quick it'll not hold any pressure.:mad:

Thanks.

mach-v sells a metal seal with a rubber coating.I just put them in mine. There a bit over sized so its a pain to get them in even with grease, but They worked good with no leaks so far. That o-ring trick is a rig.It works for some people if they get lucky but its the cheap way to fix it and never will hold.

EDIT* the shaft runs all the way threw your tb.Take it out and replace both seals on each side. Its not hard or costly.Go on vfaq.com it shows you got to do it and the parts you need.

I also have some kind of issue in mine as well but not enough to really cause a problem. Never found a solution except a new TB they arent cheap either. i thought my spring wasnt closing it enough so i cleaned the whole TB w/ brake cleaner and scrubbed all the deposits out of tb & up to the TB flap pin. Blingin'. I dont have the issue to often but i did also have to change my TPS before that.
I havent done a leak down in a while either so i don know if its actually leaking.
Hope someone knows i was gonna switch to a 1G anyway if i had to spend more than a few buck for a part.

I bought my o-rings at the hardware store and it worked great for me. The pedal needed a little "break-in" though. I followd vfaq.com i believe, it was awhile ago on my last 1g

The '90 throttle body requires 2 different shaft seals. You can get them from KSC Direct or Kaman Direct.

You'll need one each of the following (from KSC Direct):
CR 3030 $6.52
CR 3930 $6.70

Call or order online. I ordered these a month ago from KSC Direct and they said they had plenty in stock. I haven't had a chance to install them so I can't give a hands-on account of the replacement process.

I would just replace the seals its really not hard at all to do. I had a striped screw on the shaft of mine quick trip to the machine shop fixed it. Just follow the VFAQ as posted above.

Thanks for the replies. :thumb::thumb::thumb:

Will look into both Mach-V and the other vendors and let you know how it goes.

For those of you who have attempted the replacement, did you do the swap in the car or did you pull the TB out to do it. I just installed new UICP and gaskets, so I don't fancy having to pull all that off again if you can pull the shaft seals on the car??

DISREGARD MY STUPIDITY.. I just read the VFAQ and I guess it would be pretty hard to pull the shaft out while in the car as you have to unscrew the butterfly plate from the back side.
Thanks guys.

Mach V doesn't list one of the '90 shaft seals on their site. Not sure if they even sell it. I didn't bother to call, as I found the KSC Direct site and verified they had them in stock.

You have to remove the throttle body from the car to service the shaft seals.

Thanks guys, I looked over all the VFAQ and MachV and KSC stuff. Looks like I'm going to be sending off for the seals. Way it goes I guess.(having the 1990, does have it's tiny differences), but glad to get the job done right.

Will have the TB off and ready for the new seals when they arrive.:)
