TB shaft won't seal

Hi guys, I've got a 93 tsi, and it's been giving me boost leak problems. A while ago I narrowed it to the TB shaft and have replaced the seals with the O ring method. That didn't seal it well enough, so I ordered the seals from Mach V Motorsports. They came today, I put em on the TB shaft.... and it still leaks. I didn't do anything special, a dab of dialectic grease cause that's why the Vfaq said to use on the O rings (though I don't see why dialectric is important personally).

Why is my TB still leaking. It's definitely the seal on the spring side not sealing. Is there some installation procedure I should have followed which I didn't?

You did not install it correctly. Try reinstalling it, make sure it goes in flat.

which seals? I used the mil.spec from STM and they have 0 leak. Dielectric grease helps seal the air. You cant use too much really. Well you can, but you would have to try to. It not like "oh oops I accidentally put too much on."

I had it in flat. Perhaps it ended up getting shifted around as I put the spring on. I guess I'll take another go at it and hope for the best. There's really not a lot of variables here, the seals are correct and the TB itself doesn't have any gaping holes or anything, I just didn't know if I missed some part of the black magic involved in keeping a DSM running strong .

Make sure you put them in the correct way (U channel inwards) and that when you put the shaft through that it doesn't pop the one side out (where the shaft comes out through the seal).

good point. that happened to me too when i did it.
