dear all,

i have been looking around for some time and i have done so many researches on this topic , i made a boost leak test and found out that the shaft seals are leaking like hell i need your help in the following:

what is the part number of the O ring ( or the seal) please i need a mitsubishi number as here in Dubai they do not know and they will not bother to waste their time ( trust me) i know that the 90 1g model part number is MD614219 but what is it for the 2g ? i am looking for this o ring or seal since 3 days now and i can not find it anywhere:( :( can i use any O ring with the same dimension and put it back in the metal SEAL? and lubricate it ?

please i need your help on this iam fed up looking for this O Ring or seal , if you can help me in obtaining the number of mitsubishi this would be great or at least the exact dimension of the INNER o ring ??? can i use the injector seals instead ? are they of the same size? any O ring in the car has the same size that i can go and buy?????

thanks

The part number you listed above looks to be a TPS gasket/seal. There is no Mitsubishi part number for the shaft seals, as they are not sold separately. When replacing them you don't reuse the metal casing. The new o-rings will be installed by themselves lubed with a bit of dielectric grease.

When I order them from a local company, the size I buy is 10x14x3VG NBR. I'm not sure if you'll be able to find something like this around you however.

Do you live in dubai? Or is it a temporary thing. Isn't there an auto parts store or hardware store out there?

You could always just take apart your TB pull out the shaft seals, go to the store and find what orings fit.

If you have relatives or friends back over here in the states then have them look at this thread and get the parts you need then ship them to you.

Mach V also sells the shaft seals.

I'm sure there is some kind of hardware store that sells O-rings in Dubai....Its NOT like you're on the MOON...Go get some freakin o-rings man...they work fine for me!

Just match them up to your old seals if you can't find 14mm x 10mm x 3mm

Thank you guys again, however i still have one more question just to reconfim

i have in my hands now the metal casing where you put inside an O RING

can i buy just an o ring and put it inside again or i really have to put the o ring seperately by itself? and in this case the o ring has to be at the same size of the Metal case?

i know you answered that SNOW BORDER but i really can not figure it out as the O RING is way weaker than the metal casing seal? its metal VS Rubber

please direct me again

Thanks

Please do not bump your thread.

When I rebuild them, typically it would be A LOT of work to clean the inside of the metal casing to put in an o-ring. I also do not know if just putting an o-ring in the metal casing would seal well enough. All of the seals I have used (3 or so different sources now) all look them same and are complete replacements for what is removed. The seal is not just an o-ring, and is more rigid than one.

Are you trying to avoid having to have something shipped to you? Or do you need something that works ASAP?

You could always try an o-ring and if it leaks, you'll have to take it apart again and find something else to work.

thank you man and sorry for bumping the thread

today is the 4th day and my car is still not working because i can not find this seal :( thats why i really need something ASAP and having all this hassle for shipping and waiting for 5 USD is really a pain

i was asking if i can clean the metal and put another o ring because i saw this on the VFAQ and i have this seal now in my hand and as you said its really a lot of work to clean the inner part without deforming the seal

i will try to put O Ring and pray that it will work otherwise i have to suffer again in removing the TB :((

i wil keep on searching and if i give up i have to do it with an O RING

thanks

I can't say I've heard of too many people reusing the metal casing. The other issue with that is sometimes you can't remove the metal casing cleanly and end up bending it.

I'd say go and order some proper seals now anyway, and in the meantime try the VFAQ o-ring method. Then if it works, you have a spare set of seals in case something happens. If not, then you know you have a good set to replace put in that will work.

go to home depot and buy the #8 plumbing o-ring, grease them up and enjoy, they hold boost great, zero leaks, and a box cost about $2 for 8. I have rebuilt 3 TB's with these seals, they work great and are designed to hold 45psi of water pressure for several years so im hoping they will hold up, so far so good.

need2boost thx

do they fit inside the metal case or alone by themselves ? the shaft will move nicely and normally with them ?

do you have a picture if possible? and again just quick question did you notice a big difference in performance after fixing this leak?

just tell me please if its noticeable

thx

finally ..... finally i got 2 orings from the plumber :) LOL

put them back in with some grease and WOW what a difference , the throttle response is much much better and in terms of performance it's really much better now

THANKS
