Throttle body problems

Hey how are you guys doing? Alright I have a 6 bolt long block in my 2g. I have been having problems with the proper adjustments of the throttlebody cable. I have cruise control just to let you know. Anyway, no matter how I adjust the cable, when the gas is pressed all the way to the floor, the throttlebody doesn't open all the way. There is like 1/4 of an inch left or my TPS reads 85-88%. When I tighten the cable, I get full throttle (99%-100% on the TPS), however, at idle I would get like 2% throttle so I idle like at 1200-1400 RPM. Anyway, I have adjusted at the cruise control box with the throttle body cable adjusts, but so far I have had no luck. I notced under my gas pedal there is a large black plastic peice kind of like a stopper for the gas pedal, if I remove that, will that have enough range to open the throttlebody fully? Thats just an idea, so I need all of your inputs for this one. I recently went to the track and was very dissappointed. I pulled a 14.8 at 91 mph because of this problem. I have a FMIC, 3 inch exhaust turbo back, 14B ported turbo and the boost is at 9 psi and creaps to about 14 psi around redline. I don't like the 7.8:1 compression on these motors, feels a little slow off boost , but what can you do.

Have you checked the physical operation of the throttle body when you are doing this check, or are you just relying on your log of throttle position? The problem is likely with your TPS adjustment, not the cable. Try getting a second person to push the pedal while you watch the operation of the throttle body to see if it goes all the way in line with the air flowpath.

I don't like the 7.8:1 compression on these motors, feels a little slow off boost , but what can you do.

You can put 2g pistons in there and get 8.5:1.

Isn't there an adjustment on the pedal?

My cousin pressed the gas down and I saw that the throttlebody isn't fully open. There is about a 1/4 inch of room for the throttlebody to completely open. This makes sense because my TPS in my log reads 84-88%. Any more ideas guys?

Umm, yeah.

There should be (I'm trying to remember about the cruise control one here) two brackets on your manifold. If that's not it follow the throttle wire around and you will see it. Loosen those bolts. They allow for adjusting of the TB wire. You basically want to pull the TB wire to the point right before the TB starts to open. Then retighten the bolts.

Check the VFAQ, it might have pics in it.

Hey, that would be great. I don't think my cruise control is working , I tried to engage it on the highway, but no response. Now you talking about the cruise control actuater fully released, I dont know about that one, pictures would be nice and I can check mine out right after. Thank you for your help buddy,

don... you were absolutely right. I read to fast. But I'd like to know how this turns out. Worse comes to worse you could try a non-cruise cable.
