Throttle Body Leak

Alright, so i started doing my boost leak test, and found a leak coming from the elbow gasket, and exhaust manifold gasket going to the tb. So i replaced the gaskets and put some rtv. When i put the tb back in there's a leak coming from the actual throttle (the thing on the spring that the wire is connected to). When push on the nut that's holding it together i can hear the pitch of the whistling noise from the air leaking change. But when i try to tighten the nut, its spins but doesn't get tighter. Also the throttle likes to stick a bunch. i put wd-40, and that didnt help. What should i do? Would i need to rebuild it? Or is it more worth it to buy a 1g tb and do a tb swap. My car is a 1996 eclipse gsx.

i bought my car from someone, but it has a 1g engine swap. how would i tell if its a 1g or 2g throttle body just to make sure?

+1, I had the same problem awhile back and that was the cure

Edit: for $8 more Stm has the mil-spec ones, they are pretty good.

ok thank you so much, one last question, do you know if pepboys or some autostore would sell them? instead of ording them online, even if its a different brand, i jsut dont want crappy factory stuff

I have check all the mainstream auto stores and I havent found them... And most people will say OEM all the way. Factory parts are usually pretty good

Rebuild it. Its very easy and the dealership usually has the seals. If not extreme psi does. Be sure to use plumbers grease when assembling.

The vacuum nipples on a 1g face the intercooler pipe and on a 2g face the intake manifold.

It'd only be worth while to switch to a 1g (if you don't already have one) if you port the intake manifold opening to 60mm.

Maybe they dont carry them any more. Its been a while since i bought any. I know for sure extremepsi still sells them.

There is no OEM part number for shaft seals, which is why I questioned. I have never seen an OEM parts dealer sell them as an OEM unit.

ExtremePSI and Mach V do sell them, but they aren't OEM units.

guys could the seals on the spring shaft leaking cause the car to drop rpms with the clutch pushed in while changing gears?

If you do not want to rebuild the throttle body your self you can have it done.

This vendor does it quick for a reasonable price.
