1. does anyone know where i cna find 4g37 parts?
2. will any 4g63 parts (1g) fit a 4g37? im talking minor parts like intake and exhaust.
3. why is the galant considered dsm (i think its because they shared the 4g63?) and why isnt the 3000gt/stealth considered dsm?

thanks.

1) the dealer??? i am not sure what that engine is, what is it in?
2) i dunno
3) the galant vr4 was built in the diamond star motor factory with the talons lasers and eclipse, same with the 3kgt and stealth.

1. Junk yards and auto wrecker yards
2. *EDIT*No, the part are not interchangeable. The 4G63t is a DOHC turbo motor and the 4G67 is a SOHC N/T, so obviously the exhaust and intake will be different, as well as most everything else.
3. The Galant VR4 is considered a DSM because of it's 4G63 powerplant. If the 3000GT had a 4g63, then it would probably be considered one too.

4g37 = 1.8 liter sohc engine put in some of the 1g dsm's, i meant aftermarket parts not oem parts, which was why i asked, im having a hardass time finding anything aftermarket for them.

ok thats why i thoguht that vr-4 was dsm, but why isnt the 3kgt/stealth? aren't they the smae cars with differing mitsu/dodge badges, like the talon/eclipse/laser?

another question, jsut thoguht of it...my car needs new rotors up front. if i bought drilled or slotted rotors listed under the turbo version, would front or back fit? i mena if they're brakes then i dont see why not, unless the turbo version had a better set up.

GSEclipse06 - Please totally disregaurd my #2 in my first post. None of the parts (to my knowledge) are interchangable. I have a horrible hangover and I got the 4G67 and the 4G64 mixed up. You are going to have an extremely difficult time locating someone who manufactures performance parts for the SOHC 1.8L. Some guys on this forum have sucessfully turbo'd them, but it was all 'custom'.

The 3kgt/stealth's have a twin-turbo V6. The engine and drivetrain are nothing like that of a DSM. The 3kgt and the stealth are alike just as an eclipse and a talon are. But the only thing that make an eclipse/talon/laser a true DSM is it's engine. That is the reason the 3kgt/stealth's are not dsm's. Make sense?

All FWD non-ABS 1G and 2G's share the same front rotors. And all non-ABS 1G's have the same in the rear; that includes the AWD's.

They will fit as long as it is for a 91-early 92 turbo awd or 91-94 turbo fwd. In mid-late 92, awd went with 4 piston front calipers. These rotors are larger than what you have. And Im not absolutely sure but I have heard some 90's have different brakes on the front compared to the 91.

ok thanks you guys have been alot of help...99 thanks, i guess it kinda makes sense, i jsut thought they would be considered dsm's because they were twins, i knew the motors were different, but i figured they were still dsm's.

Actually, they went with dual piston calipers. Just trying to clear some things up so he doesn't go in to AutoZone and confuse those knowledgeable, hard working guys. :thumb:

correct me if im wrong but just the fact that they have 4g63 doesnt mean that its a dsm... dsm were the diamond star motors that bought the engine design for the 4g63. thats y evo are not considered dsm even though they have the same block cause there made in japan

My bad, for some reason, I was thinking of a 3kgtvr4 when I typed that. OMG But yes, the went to dual piston front calipers.

You will incur the full wrath of a Galant VR-4 owner if you ever call it a DSM (trust me, I've caught their fury before. It wasn't pretty). They are rather antsy about such things. Anyway, the GVR-4 was not built at the DSM factory, it was built in Japan. The 3K and Stealth are known more commonly as 3SI vehicles becasuse they were assembled at the Three Star International factory in Japan.

i know its never good to TRY to correct a moderator but im'a go for it anyway, 99gst_racer said what makes a dsm a dsm is the motor, but I think I have to disagree. I have the 420a version which did not come in 1G's, it came in the avenger/sebring/talon/eclipse (which do have DSM logos on the car) DSM shut down in 1993 i beleive and the 420a made its debut in 1995. It's kind of a blurry subject I guess.
