So my gvr4 **** the bed a few weeks back. I found a used engine. Looks like a jdm and the seller states that is what he thinks it is as well. He never ran it, bought a vandalized car and the previous owners claimed to put the engine in. Engine has been sitting for a substantial amount of time. Its still attached to the trans so I ran a compression test on it. Cylinder 1, 125psi. Cylinder 2, 75psi. Cylinder 3, 110psi. Cylinder 4, 50psi. I haven't bought it yet but I don't have much that's useful from the old engine so at the very least I need a core. Whats everyone's thoughts? Could the low compression be from sitting? I just don't wanna put it in and then have to pull it back out.

I bought my 2nd vr4 a month ago with low compression. Pulled the head and found a melted piston is cylinder 1. If its out, refresh it. I'm in the process of doing that right now

Well the low compresion is either bad rings, bad sealing valves, or headgasket, or cracked block/head. No other way around that bro I'm afraid to say. Nows it up to you to figure out why and decide the best fix. If you buy the used engine plan on atleast a re-ring kit all the way to a full rebuild! You won't know until you break the motor down, even your highest number is to low bro!!

I guess I mainly posted this just to see if anyone had any experience like this after a motor sat, like an imported jdm swap that hasnt ran in who knows how long. I've built several dsms, I know the ins and outs. Ill probably just pick it up and take a look at it further/tear it down some. I was just hopin to throw it in and go. I bought my gvr4 with 500 miles on a rebuild from a japanese engines shop and its my dd. 9k miles later, rod nut spun off and grenaded everything. They won't warrenty it so I'm left to do it right this time.
