thermostat sensor wiring colors

The 3 plugs that connect to the sensors on the tstat broke off. Can someone help me figure out what color wire goes to what? There is one sensor on top which I think is for the ac, then one under that looks like a sideways T and the single one which is the cluster temp gauge. This is for a 92 awd tsi 6-bolt if it matters.

my service manual shows three sensors in the housing.

At the very top is the air conditioning coolant temp switch. It is right next to the upper hose.

Bottom on the left is the Engine coolant temperature sensor (for the engine)

Bottom on the right is the Engine coolant temperature gauge unit.

The sideways T, is that the port that has two vacuum barbs on it? Or are you describing the way the coolant temp sensor male end configuration. The end of the sensor looks like a T.

I am looking at my car right now and I don't see a sensor with three wire coming off of it. mine car is also a 91 and is obd1.

I said 3 plugs not 3 wires. Your right though the one on the top is the ac one, then there is one under the vacum barbs that has two prongs(I --) which I think is the coolant temp sensor that goes to the ecu? and then the one to the right of that with a single wire which is the temp gauge. I just want to know what color wire belongs where.

Well the A/C thermoswitch has 2 wires; One is a green wire with a yellow strip that runs to the A/C sightglass and the other is a black wire with a green strip that runs to pin #7 on the ECU. The only reason I know exactly where those wires go is because I took notes when I completely removed it from my car.

The Coolant Temp Switch has 2 wires; One is green with a black strip and the other is yellow with a green strip.

The Coolant Temp Gauge has a single wire which is also yellow with a green strip.

This is a really crappy picture but it shows you the location of each of those sensors. There seems to be a lot of confusion and bad information about this on this site so I hope this clears it up for you.

Saw your post and ran out to take a couple shots of that on my 92 Laser RS which should be IDENTICAL to yours.
