Thermostat Housing on 2G head. What is this hole that goes into the head?

This is my 2G thermostat housing on my 2G head on a 1G block. I put on my thermostat housing back on and noticed this threaded hole that leads into the head by the looks of it. There is nothing that threads in here. The thermostat goes in here and the housing goes on and thats it.

What is this threaded hole for and am I missing something I forgot about? Its right in the very center of the second picture way inside the housing.

AS I remember Jim there was nothing there on mine either...

I jsut checked CAPS and nothing listed there either

I have my 2g head off my car and i have been working on it, from what i remember, theres not a hole there

Oh well, no big deal, just droped in the thermostat and we'll see what happens. should be ok.

Wat r u going to use to plug that big hole tho? Is than an oem piece?

Maybe a "hole" for one of the sensors?

It's for nada. I just slapped it in and it's fine. I dunno, it must have always been there because I don't remember pulling anything out of it and don't remember seeing anything there. It's literally covered up by the thermostat but would still get coolant in it as the coolant flows through the thermostat.

Anyway the motor is in the car now and running just fine so I'm not that worried about it. I'm gonna make a post when I have time and detail the motor build up and install for the hell of it.
