1g 92 Laser for sale for $1400. Looks stock except for the exhaust, apexi I think (according to the stickers on the interior). I think I could get it for less than that for sure. The interior is stripped out and it has wheels with no hub caps. ugh. I dont have any clue how many miles are on it because the guy said it might be a different cluster. (175k on the odometer) I didn't check to see if it was a 6 or 7 bolt but either way it has a 4g63t and I am getting dsmlink. Heres my question though, should I just use this engine while I build my other one and just set me back a month or two? Or (if it is a 7bolt) should I pull the crank and rods, use the pistons from the 2g, and put it back together that way? I heard the 1g/2g combo is a good combo. Basically should I get this car? It would at least be good for parts right? I know I could use the BOV, and then stick the turbo on my civic :p haha jp. But I want my 2g back together and handsome again. If this motor has that many miles on it then I will def. hold out on adding performance to that and just build my other one. (I planned on Big 16g) I hate how confusing some of this gets... why can't I just have a "come here and get a 4g63t for your broke down eclipse! ON SALE ALWAYS"
 
well say you can get it for like 1000$. you take the motor but then what? plus you dont know what kind of condition it's in. you can find a good 6bolt for less then that. im not really what else you would need the car for if its stiripped out.
 
Well if I take the motor then I could put it in my car and have a driveable car again... And I CANT find a good motor, or a motor period. No one ever replies dangit. And I don't know any DSM'ers around here. I'm getting desperate, I'm sick of seeing my car stuck in the garage.
 
So there is this guy selling a Silver 1995 Eclipse GS and wants to get rid of it. Said it was taking up space in his drive way. He wants $4500 for it. The body has 150k miles on it and is has a new 420a with 30k miles on it. (Has the documents of the new motor and when and where it was installed) I looked over it really good and knew what i was looking for got under it and stuff like that. Test drove it and runs great! no signs of oil leaks or nothing. Well here are the aftermarket parts on it. I will be buying this car and handing my talon over the my sister. So i was just wondering is this a good price for this car?

With a motor with 30k on it, yes, it is a good price. But if you are paying $4500 for it, why not get a Turbo?
 
WELL SCRATCH THAT!!!! .... i just got off the phone with him and he said he will give it to me for 3000 becuase he really wants it out his driveway .... his wife is getting mad LOL .... its a friend of my moms so yeah imma buy it and resale it for $4500 LOL and find a GST/GSX not only that my mom doesnt want my sister to drive a stick so im going to sale the talon as well for $4500 give me a nice 8k to find a turbo
 
Well in that case, Buy it. It sounds like you have a plan. But remember that there will not be a lot of people wanting a NT for $4500.
 
well my talon also has 50k on the motor but 192k on the body .... ill park it next to my local high school and one of the juniors or seniors will buy it LOL .... its in great condition and i have about 4k into it.
 
I am thinking about trading for a 1997 Eclipse RS that has a Hahn Racecraft Stage 2 turbo kit on it, and thought I would post on here for some opinions on the car. I will post all the info the guy had posted about the car below and try to post a couple of pictures as well. Basically looking for any info anyone can tell me about if this sounds like a good setup, how it will hold up, and things I should look for or ask about the car before buying it and stuff. Also what would any of you guys think the car should be worth, he is asking $7000 for it. I have never owned or know too much about these cars, so any help will be greatly appreciated.

FS/FT 1997 Eclipse RS-Turbo,built,boosted,TONS of mods

well after much debate im trying to trade my car im wanting a 98 z28 or GT but im open to anything really as long as its a v8, 94 and up, such as a GT, Z28, Trans Am or a NICE V6 wihtmods, IE supercharged or juiced ect. the car is great always taken care of, oil changed every 3000miles or 3 months whatever cam first, car ahs tone of mods and pull like a rocket, makes around 300HP at the crank, dyno proven and yes i have sheets. everything on this car was done by RTC and everyone there will vouch for me and my car. as well as MattD, Araon jones, Saul, Dan(2000Si)they have all seen it.I deal with RTC and Injc. Performace weekley and the car has always been to them. Car is runing an Hahn Super 16g turbo at 10lbs of boost and it spools like a mofo quick and fun throught every gear.

$7000 FIRM the Hahn kit alone cost me $3500 plus $2000 for a pro install from RTC so your geting a steal. runs a 13.0@113mph on drag radials.

if no one bites ill hold on to it, im in lexington so if anyone who is really interested want a ride ill tkae you for one, (no joy rides please, if you really want to take a look at the car ill let you see how quick it shoots up to 100mph) so here she is like i said lots of people know about the car Eric gash,Jones, Matt, Saul, josh(buff dragon) car has been waxed and garage kept as long as i have owned it.

Very clean car but IMO It might be a bit much for especailly if you know little about these cars. DSM's require alot of TLC and up keep and of your knowledge is lacking you could very well end up spending even more money keeping it running than you expected.
When was the motor rebuilt, with 124K on it, its getting close to needing some work on it, if it has not been done lately.

I do not know to much about 2G dsms but thats my 2cents
 
The guy said the car has been turbo'd for a year and a half but the engine was supposed to have been gone thru and all forged parts put in a few hundred miles ago. RTC (Racing Technology Co.) in Kentucky installed the turbo, done all the tuning, dyno testing, and went thru the engine.
 
OMG 7k is an insane amount of money for a turbocharged 420a IMO.I would get a nice 2g for probably 5k and you will have a better platform as far as mods go.I not trashing on the 420a but the 4g63t has been proven to make big power on stock bottom end and head.There is alot more mods for the 4g63t also.My 2 cents.
 
If the engine has really low miles on all new forged everything, and you don't beat the living hell out of it every day, then that thing will last you for a really long time. The only thing you might need replacing down the road is the tranny.

7000 is a lot but with the low amount of miles, I would buy it if I had the extra money lying around.
 
Hi everyone! I am about to buy a 1998 GSX with about 82K on it. The car has the following:

3" high flow cat and brand new tie rod ends installed 3/30/06.

He is about to sell it for 8750, is this a good, safe, reliable buy? I currently have a WRX 2003 but i want to go back to dsms coz of the looks, alot faster for cheap, and its just hot as shit!! I know that i am going from a much newer car but i will be honest, i have the stage 2 upgrades and flash on my rex and it is nowhere close to my 97 GST. So guys please help me out whether to stay with my rex or buy this GSX! thanks!

oh also im planning on doing the 6 bolt swap! if i get this
 
It sounds like a great car to buy, Timing belt...alarm....well taken care off, But I would not buy it to strip it down and do a bolt swap. Look for something cheaper then. Goodluck.

The 7 Bolt should be fine though....I imagine your worried about crank walk.....dont be.

Also some fuel and control for it is in order.
 
yeah it looks wll taken care of, the owner sent me pics of everything and is clear and clean. Yes you are right about the crank walk thing, reason y i am worried is on my gst, that happened to me. Just dont want it to happen to me twice me being in college and all i cant afford that. he has everything on paper, he dynoed at 279whp and is tuned with SAFC2. I am pretty sure he has the fuel system taken care of since he has all the supporting mods for the b16g.
 
Have you driven it? Has a clean title? Whats the KBB on it? If its straight, get it. Beats the hell out of a WRX.
 
Well here Ill give you this. If your in college, like me. Put the car on hold.....whether you buy it or not, dont mess with it. If your buying a tight reliable car, keep it that way.

In my basement I have a Greddy Td05 18G, A new fidanza Flywheel, a New Clutch Net 6 Puck Disk and a 2600 act Pressure plate. I cant wait to get these on my car, but I know because of school and my commuting that I HAVE to just bite the bullet and wait on it. I used to let my car come before school....I would stay up late, miss classes and homework...because somethign broke as a result of modding and what not, but Now my car is running strong all the time and Im keeping it that way. Maintaining it and thats it.

So I say if you buying a good car, then sweet. Drive it likee that and then when you get the cash rolling in after you get a degree....buy a real car. haha Goodluck man,
 
yeah that is my plan, Dont get me wrong i love the WRX, its just i owe 11g's on it and to be honest, it cant even hang with my old gst. And ive already spent 2500 on it!! Yes, reliability is an issue wit ANY car, i just want this car to last me till i get done with school. i take good care of my cars and dont beat on them. I do regular maintanance and always listen to the engine after i park it ( i know i guess im weird like that) i do all my repairs and mods by myself. Not to brag or anything but ive been tooling around DSMs for 3 years that i pretty much know them already in and out. So you guys think that this will benefit me in the long run? thanks

PS: this gsx and my rex have almost the same mileage 85K
