I am hopefully buying a clean 1g today for 3400. I have been looking forever.

well i thinkim goin to get her...i planed on doing a stock rebuild anyhow on one of the engiens so it really doesnt matter at this point

worse case senario i part the thing out and make my money

$500 sounds right about fair...the motors a mystery and you cant even put it to the test yet...if hes a "friend" he should let you slide with that offer...and hahha yea a honda civic? watta jokee

I have a 1997 Eclipse GSX with an Evo 3 turbo and a brand new mitsu short block (less than 1k miles) any suggestions on a reasonable price in california? Assume good working order and immaculate condition.

Being a proven member, you could just post your car in the classifieds and see what people offer. Go to kbb.com and find the value of your car. Then think of how much work you put into it.

Ya I didn't really wanna spam classifieds with fake ads, I guess my car isn't too different from kbb so ya I guess I'll just base it off that, thanks.

Im selling my 99 GS Eclipse for 6000 dollars tomorrow and wednesday im going to buy a 1999 Spyder GS-T with 34,000 miles on it for 9,000 dollars. The car has had 1 owner. Completely stock adult kept!. I think this is a rare find anyone else agree?

If they only want 7500 then thats a steal. The KBB on my friends 96 GSX is 6005 with almost 130k miles. Car looks good and since its alrdy got a clutch that another positive since its AWD. Id buy it for sure

I know there is a big difference in AWD and FWD but how big of a difference other then take off and traction on a wet road. And since its a Spyder does it have less horse power well more weight then a regular Eclipse.

all spider means is convertible. if your gonna be at the track and want to get the best times possible you want awd, otherwise fwd is gonna be a little slower but not by much if you get your starts down, it weighs less to so that makes up for it a little.

oh yeah and look for a egle first, just by name they are way cheaper. I got my car with 72k for 4500 in near mint condition.

But I heard that ALL convertables are heavier due to them putting weights in the car so it dosen't roll easier.

He wants 3800 for everything and he will throw in a set of 7 bolt big brakes and some other stuff.

I was wondering if anyone out there thinks this is worth it.

He says it will only boost 5 lbs., so something is wrong probably the turbo (a 19C, which nobody here uses). So at the very least you will need a turbo for it, that usually is about $600-$800 for a new turbo.

If the compression tests good, then it may be worthwhile.

Compression tester is only about $20.

Yeah it's low miles, and it already has the engine swapped? hmm..I would be careful with this one.

Obviously we can't see or drive the car, so we can't say whether it's worth it or not.

But whoever owned it and put the 19C turbo on it, does not sound like someone very wise.

i will be buying my first dsm this week i am looking at a 96 gsx with a gen1 motor and a 2g head on it, it has a bigger turbo new motor and new tranny only thing wrong with the car is it needs some new paint. I can get the car for 4 grand. does this sound like a good deal only downside is the car is an auto but its going to be more less a daily driver that will still get up and move. I guess i am wondering if the gsx's are pretty quick cars even if its an auto

4 grand? Thats a steal! Does he have recipets for all work done? All this power...any mods to the tranny? Even at at auto DSM's have a mother load of an aftermarket. a DSM auto is just as good and a DSM Manual. Yes you can build up an ATX but you can also obtain a Special Plug and POlay ECU that will control when your tranny will shift like and Mtx!

GOt PICS?

if its nice buy it, i've seen it on xceed looks nice just check it out before you buy it. in person. of coarse

I was reading the thread and it states it can't run due to numerous electrical problems.

Are you handy with cars? Electrical problems are costly things to replace as well as alot of time diagnosing and fixing them. Do you have a friend who is good with cars in general or DSM knowledgable? We on the boards can only help you so much. We can most likely pin point and give you rough ideas of how to troubleshoot. If you have the extra money as well as patiance go for it!

Run a carfax...something looks fishy! Also, its worth it to walk into a auto shop and pay one of them to take a computer with him to the car and hook it up as well as look all around and other things! God to bring a wrench and see if the engine cranks as well!

actually it has a brand new tranny in it as long as a rebuilt 1g motor he moved into a condo and as most of you know you cant work on cars there so he has to get rid of it. The only thing it needs is paint, just cause its fadded
