My bro wants to sell me his talon. It's automatic and only has 75k miles on it. it's in mint condition. I'm not sure if i want it though. Is this car really worth it? I've driven it but, the only problem is that when it gets to third gear i think, it seems like it goes to neutral or something because you can press the gas and it just revs but, doesn't go. You have to let go of the gas and let the computer remember to grab a gear. i'm thinking it's the computer that is doing that. I've noticed if you don't put enough pressure on the gas it will do that. if you floor it, it will shift regular. If it is, how much will it cost to fix that problem? I really like how this car looks. But performance wise, idk because it's not really worth it to me. Or i can save up and buy a 350z or srt4. If i do that, then my bro will probably sell it to some bum off the streets that can't take care of a rare car like this. And they will probably "rice" the poop out of this car.:hmm:

a 96 talon tsi for that cheap? in this area man them things are on craigslist for like $4,500, very rare in this area...you need to figure out how much it would be to fix that problem if its not that much go for it man. A car like that needs to be in good hands, away from people that rice them up and treat them like dirt, with just a few mods, you'll have a car faster, more rare, and even sits more people too:D

Really??? I bought a mint stock 98 tsi awd for $2000 in ontario, Canada. I just found another one there without a sunroof for $3000 but I have him down to 2500.

In my current town, I found a 96 tsi awd for $2000 and I am looking at a gsx shell for autocross. I also found a 93 tsi awd for $150 last month.

I would grab the dsm. It is a worthwhile money pit. :) Not too many of them kicking around, as opposed to them neons and Z's....

For the price of an SRT4 or 350Z you could make that Talon an absolute monster. You'd have it paid off a lot sooner, and could put that money towards other things instead of making payments on a $10-15k vehicle. I say get the Talon as long as you have something else to drive while the tranny gets fixed. Make sure you take it to a good shop that knows what they're doing, or maybe get the tranny shipped to a reputable vendor on here that specializes in dsm transmissions.

Yep. I'll probably be the only person probably in my county with a talon tsi. The car comes with godspeed intercooler too. So if i were to spend like around 2k more for modifications.. Will i feel difference in power?

I drive a 95 celica st... slow piece of crap. stock 280k miles. This car won't die.

Good, keep that celica for a daily driver til the Talon is all sorted out.

So are you new to performance cars, or are you pretty familiar with them? are you a capable mechanic? Do you have a place to work on the car and tools to take care of it?

Lol these cars are known for making power for cheap. Just make sure you have all the maintenance done beforehand.

make sure the turbo that is on the car doesn't have shaft play (just take off the intake pipe where it meets the turbo and reach in there and grab the nut on the shaft and try to move it. Do it while the engine is off and cool of course.)

List of maintenance stuff to take care of:
- change spark plugs- NGK BPR6ES @ .028 gap
- change plug wire's- NGK
- change oil -Which includes engine, transmission along with if applicable transfer case and rear diff.
- change Oil filter -I prefer WIX
- flush and refill coolant
- Timing Belt Kit, Full OEM kit with the belt, both pulleys and hydraulic tensioner
partsdinosaur.com has a good kit.
- Balance shaft belt if it's still on the car.
- Water pump use an OEM one
- Air filter K&N or Vibrant Performance with adapter plate for stock MAF
- Fuel filter
- Brake pads
- check tire wear
- make sure the wheel bearings aren't howling
- Ball joints (Check with dealer to see if they are in for a recall)
- Alignment
- Brake and Clutch fluid flush Dot 3
- Boost leak test
- Fix any exhaust leaks
- PVC Valve OEM only and check to be sure it doesn't leak either
- Fix any CEL codes with appropriate part
- Replace all coolant lines
- Replace all vacuum lines

A friend offered his mid 90 Integra + cash for my winter beater. His car is completely stock minus ebay exhaust header and all.

I have a '92 Talon TSi AWD. I had the transmission rebuilt with a dual cone synchro 2nd gear and all new bearings throughout the transmission (about $750 in parts and labor, have receipts), XTD Stage 4 6 puck clutch, Autometer Boost gauge, 3 pod a-pillar, all new gasket and seals throughout the engine along with all new OEM timing components when the tranmission was tore down, FP2 cams. 6 bolt engine, 4 bolt LSD Rear end, twin piston front brakes. Canadian manual seatbelts. 3" Exhaust from the turbo back, installed from the previous owner. Emissions elimintated. Paint is very bad, no clear coat on top, but body is fairly straight. No major rust. What would you pay for this car? Obviously I'm not going to trade it for his Integra... What would I do with a stock FWD honda?

Ok, so i have a 420A Turbo 1995 Gs. It has a HKS Bov, custom clutch, lambo doors, glass fiber hood, Obx racing Cam Sprockets, Custom exhaust, a bunch of other things. It has 84,000 miles. The only bad thing on the car is that the speedometer doesnt work, and to fix it you need to drop the trans. I'm in need for some money right now and was wondering how much could i get for this Dsm? Like a good range for it. Thanks in advance!

You could probably get more for it if you removed the lambo doors, spoiler graphics and made it look oem. With the current market i would say maybe 2500-3500 depending on what you do to the body.

You are going to have to gut any bumper you put on there to get that long ass FMIC core to fit. I say just drop the spoiler and the stupid doors and vinyls. Other than that, its a pretty solid build 420a. I'd say you could sell it for around $3,000.

Didn't you JUST buy this car though?

the way it sits right now id pay 2 grand even.. but that would be after a inspection and test drive..
