I dont know how people could pay that much for a car that's 15 years old

What logic is that? What about my grandpas mint 1969 396 Chevelle, you wouldn't buy it because its now 41 years old? I'm sure he could get alot more then 7grand for his chevelle even though its old :p. My friend has a 91 300zx TT, awesome car, its 20 years old in mint condition with 64xxx miles with tasteful mods, im sure he could get upper teens for it even though its older.

I'm just saying I know these cars everyone wants to pick it up as cheap as they can but its hard to find a clean one around me that is for sale.

#### that. 7 grand for a well molested DSM, no thanks. :tease:

Don't we buy these cars to put go mods on and beat on them?

I wouldn't pay 7k for that car. Its really not really modded enough to be worth 7k. Still has stock bottom end and stock transmission, so I wouldn't pay that much for a modded car without upgraded internals and tranny.

true I will def ask him about every little thing thats done and find out what he hasn't done. Your right, without a built bottom or a built tranny I don't think its worth 7 grand myself. I would ###### offer him 5300 and pay the most maybe 5900.

it hasa mods and he prob ran the shit out of it if you want his headachs buy it

Guess this thread doesn't get to active people in it :p

alright before i get burned on here let me just say i have done some research and DID try to use the search! LOL

but i'm looking to get a 2gen GSX and i just cant figure out why they are all listed so much higher than all the value sites (edmunds, KBB, NADA) i found this one in Dallas and i was able to talk him down to $4,700. But it still just seems really steep, based on the values it showing an average of $3,800.
he has is listed on ebay item number 300533152054
and craigslist Turbo1995 AWD Eclipse GSX Forsale or Trade

any input or explanations would be greatly appreciated!

REDUCED!!1993 Eagle Talon TSI AWD (300hp)

Car I am looking at, I figured I would offer the guy 1500 and not go over 2000. The reason I can't see myself paying his asking price would be its semi-high mileage, on a rebuild. Also it had mods that I wouldn't trust the average DSM'er making without being somewhat skeptical.

Any opinions as far as a reasonable value for the car if it were about 5-6 hours away and would require some time acquiring?

how close or far off is this guy?

1991 mitsubishi eclipse gsx wtt/wts

my car is in similiar condition, and will have similair mods, is this a realistic resale value?

No way that worth anywhere near8grand. I would give 3500 or maybe little more, since the tranny grinds, needs paintjobs, and just has basic bolt ons you can find in the cladsifieds for cheap.

I am looking for a preferably a 1g talon but will listen to anything available at this time. I am getting rid of my 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix because I must commute to work everyday and its roughly 50 minutes and gas mileage is terrible.

I want a non-turbo dsm, stick shift, that runs well. I have had 4 Talons in my time so a talon would be my preference even though they are all just about the same.

I don't know where else to post about this so I am posting here. I live in Houston, TX and will drive upwards of a few hours to anyone that has something available. Thanks guys and long live DSM.

That thing looks like crap. My friend bought a '93 AWD Talon with about the same miles and mods with a better paint job for 3k. That guy is smoking crack. And LOL at the "rare" flip up head lights. Just about as rare as a 1GB. Haha.

because he looked at pictures online. i dont mean to speak for bradcurtis15. but come on. he can't tell anything about the car. he cant tell if the dash is messed up or if someone left holes somewhere for switches. or if the car has bondo over half the fenders. if your gonna buy a car GO LOOK AT IT. don't be shy:)

What do you guys think should i buy it or skip it the car is black with a grey int, the body seems in overall good shape i talked the seller down to 1100.00 chime in, i want opinions.

Need more details, pics, info. Miles on car? 5 pseed or auto? Stock or modded? Headgasket or did it throw a rod? Sunroof? What did the leakdown test reveal?

Motor is out of the car the car is stock the car is a 5spd i have a running motor to put back in btw. The motor just crankwalked on the guy. No pics ill take some tonight.

Yeah same thing i was thinking. I'll take the engine out of the spyder and put a six bolt in my spyder. Btw i might sell the spyder and keep the one i am buying.

Dang i got a lot of responses. Some of you guys are ruthless LOL, or just plain cheap!

Ok, I've been on a search for new road beast since I sold my 1990 Talon TSi AWD in Feburary. Well, the guy I sold my Talon to had a buddy that wanted to sell his 92 Talon to him but the guy didnt want a project but a running car instead so he picked up mine. I keep in contact with the guy I sold my talon too and mentioned I was having with draws from dsm's and he told me about his buddies car.

Its a 1992 Panda with a black carbon fiber hood. Great paint with only minor damage at the passenger side skirt where it meets the front fender (pretty common I've noticed) and a really nice grey leather interior, power everything, no sunroof, ABS, 4 bolt rear end. Has 99K on the chassis. Really nice shell.

Only catch is, that the guy bought it 3 years ago, drove it for a year and half and thought he'd attempt a 6 bolt swap into it (its a later 92 and "had" a 7 bolt) he pulled the engine, tranny, and drive line, and got as far as mounting the ,believe he said 91, 6 bolt in it and couldn't figure out how to hook it all up, and wire it together and lost interest. So it has sat for last year and half in his yard, with tranny/clutch/driveline/and associated external engine parts in garage/shed.

Only reason I'm interested is because it will be a project for me giving me a chance to get some hands on experience with these sexy road beasts (love 1g's) The car will come with everything I need to reassemble it besides the turbo (no problem with that will try to find a small 16g if I do get it or if on budget a 14b). I am mechanically inclined and feel 100% confident in putting it back together. With it in the state its in now I'd be doing the waterpump, balance shaft elimination, and timing job then reassymbling everything as a bare mininium.

Question(s) though now is.

(1). With me pulling engine out to do the timing, water pump, BSE should I replace the oil pump (pump from what I found come with new front case attached) and while going that far rod and main bearings, and whole lower gasket set?

(2). Maybe even as far as a whole engine gasket job, pull pistons rering them and check cylinders, have crank/head checked?

(3). Or just leave it at the timing components and water pump and not bother with oil pump, bearings, and gaskets (unless I see visable signs of leakage)?

(4). If I pulled the oil pan to check for metal shavings in bottom would it be a bad idea to just replace the rod bearings while accessed or if pan is clean just leave bearings?

(5). If rod bearings were replaced and showed sign of wear would the main bearings would most likely be in same condition?

(6). The cluth assymbly is from the 7 bolt, I've read different things that there was no difference between certain parts and changes in others, but the common parts after sitting for almost 2 years and if in spec. Should they be replaced or will they be ok to reuse?

Engine I was told had about 90k on it when pulled from a wrecked Talon and has been sitting for last year and half for sure and unkown before that.

I feel like I'm getting a steal of a price on this. He's asking $450 for everything. And looking to spend another $500 to maybe as high as $1.2k in puting it back together and doing this maintence. Price range depends on how little or much I do. $500 being a used good condition 14b, timing job, fluids, acc. belts, and various other things to get it back together, and $1.2k being basically an almost full rebuild with a 2-3 months of work. So if all goes well the money I put into it will come out to less then what I would spend to purchase one with all the work already done, roughly under $1800. And thats not a lump sum but spread out over a few paychecks of ordering parts every 2 weeks. I'm just a firm believer in "If it ain't broken, don't fix it". I do wanna get it on road sooner then later, and will be planning on keeping it for a few years. I will also be doing most of the labor myself besides work that should be done by a machine shop if any at all. So I'd just be paying for parts, supplies, various tools I don't have yet, and of course the cold beer when I feel satisfied with the progress and bloody knuckles from a days work.

Thanks in advance for any feedback. Only person I got around here to bounce things off is fiancee and well she's never thrilled with my dsm obsession. So can imangine how that goes.

Drew's the name and DSM's are the game.
