A 96 with 100k and only 100 psi compression across the board? What's the condition of the rest of the car?

I just bought a 97 GS that had a dead clutch and some crappily repaired front end damage for $1200, but the engine was pulling ~185 across the board (at my altitude that would be equal to 195-200 around sea level) but it's a good parts car and had a few other bits that I was looking for as well as fresh rubber and such.

knowing that the engine is gonna need to be replaced or rebuilt soon won't help resale value. I'd offer$750+ depending on options and overall condition of the rest of the car.

if its just the engine, and some one offered $100.00 for it . from what your saying it sounds like you a a running "core" engine. I would say that sounds fair, maybe close to a deal if it is a complete pull out engine, with manifolds, fuel injectors ect

Someone offered you $100!?! That's crazy!! I would offer $150. Not only is it a N/T, but a N/T with very low compression. Double whammy.

sounds like you have a plan now... I wont tell you what i have paid for my last 420a motors....and they were pulled, most beacuse the time belt failed....

Hey guys. I'm looking into a 95 gsx with 175,000 miles on it. Original motor, no records of it being rebuilt (but has 170 on the compression test on all 4), also has new low mileage tranny and new clutch. Upgraded to the usual 16g turbo etc. It's a real 16g turbo. Ofcourse it comes with an aftermarket intercooler, 650 injectors, afc2 fuel controller and a 255 fuel pump. just recently replaced the timing belt and water pump and head gasket. Perfect interior and exterior. No signs on abuse. How much do you guys think this is worth paying for?

What is the seller asking?
$4,500

Yeah I agree $3000 max, because your gonna need the extra moneyy to put in it because it's a DSM
So you would be willing to sell your own car for $3,000 max?

You too? You would be willing to let your '95 go for $3,000 max?

The reason I asked is that i am also understanding that these dsm's aren't really fully supported right if you go by kbb. I'm just sayin'...

Yeah KBB sucks for any enthusiast cars. Most people have 3k in parts in their cars within a year, why would you want to sell something you've put soo much into for how much you put into it?!
<3

Personally I think it is worth roughly $4k assuming it has had 0 accidents and no major rust. The engine does sound like its a ticking time bomb (cause it has so many miles), but since it has good compression and new timing components, it should last you a while longer. How's the condition of the exterior? The interior? Check all the switches and make sure they work. Also, I don't know if this is important in Washington, but check that A/C works well ;)

Edit: Sorry, just saw that you said the interior/exterior are good.

Look at it this way....he values the car at $4500. Do you? And the car is 14 years old. That's 14 years of untold abuse. Maybe it had an oil change like clockwork and a "good" mechanic fixed everything.....but then maybe you'll win the lottery too.

I would start low at around 3300 like stated above then if no deal slowly offer up to a top of 4k IMHO
