It took me and a buddy about 21 hours do to the same job, we kinda took time tho. And it was the first time I tore into a car that deep so I was learning as we went, if you have some experience and a few hours every evening you shouldn't have a problem getting it done in a week, then sell it for say 2000 ;)

Go to the junkyard, find a GOOD N/T head, check Head for warping (mill if needed) swap cams, install N/T head on T engine block, put it back together, sell.

Least amount of work to get it done and still be a drivable car.

I found a 90 tsi awd awhile back my next door neighbor picked it up for $200
and I did the same thing to it minus the sell part
I also replaced the water pump, hyd. tentioner and a did a few other things to it...

ya i was gonna just use the head thats all messed up and just put my spare set of springs retainers and valves in but the shops are charging 200 which is not bad but im thinking about just buying a new head for like 150 and part the other stuff thats in the old head. LOL im gonna try and get 2800 obo i mean it wont be that bad. I have a few spare parts like a greddy type-s BOV, intercooler pipe upgrades, injectors, and maf's just laying around so it wont be a bad car. And the car only has 110k miles on it:D

How confident are you in your mechanical skills?

If you feel that you can tackle the head work and have no deadline to get it done, go for it. If you don't drive the Integra anymore, why not trade straight up?

Be aware though, there are some bad aspects of buying/trading a non-running car. There may be other problems that won't be known until the car is running/driving.

Ultimately, it's your choice, but I'd say do it. :talon:

I would personally do it. Since it is stock that probably means some teenager didn't drive it and try to turn it into a ricer. But you don't know if that is all that is wrong with it. It's your choice but if I were you I would do it.

ya i work at a dealership i rebuild engines all the time. but i have never done a 4g63, the guy i trading told me to day he pulled the engine out to see if there is ant thing wrong with the bearings. i plan on rebuilding the whole engine anyway. i was try to get just the engine to put in my 92 laser awd. but i was told i could get the whole car for the trade. so now i am going to get it. i going to own 2 dsm i just bot my first one 3 months ago. i got the integra for free 6 year ago need a tranny. i just bot a awd laser with a spun bearing for 300

ha i had a built 92 ls vtec integra that i traded straight up for my 91 tsi with a shit ton of stuff done to it.. if your integra is just sitting id say do it but if you want a reliable car id say dont do it and stick with the integra

i would trade it or fixx da integra n sell it der not dat bad i guess but datts a good deal come up on it

Use correct grammar, and sentence structure. Do you have any idea how hard it is for other members to read this?

I dont see any harm in doing it, if you want the gst. I would probably pass being my self, the integra runs, eclipse does not. I wouldn't trade unless it was something I just had to have. How confident are you that the person wanting to trade is being honest with you? Are you sure its lifter tick, and not a rod knocking? Does the turbo have shaft play at all?

Take a look at this 1993 Eagle Talon Tsi AWD for sale, not a bad find huh? but I think that price is a little steep regardless of the miles

1993 Eagle Talon TSI AWD

the car is really nice but I don't think its worth $12k even with that few miles

i was just over there today and he has the block out now, rods and crank look go. no scraced up journals i have 4 14b laying around. one has no miles on it other has 50k and so on. hes told me he give me 300 cash on top of the trade soo........ i am think i sould trade he.He was going to give the body to me for free and trade the whole swap for my integra he work at a auto parts store. he told me he hook me up with parts.

Hey guys, I'm currently looking for a GSX (or a GST to do a AWD conversion)

Link:
1999 Mitsubishi Eclipse GST

Here is a:
99 GST (AT)
-135k Miles
- Comes with an extra untouched 6 bolt 1g 5 Speed Motor he planned to swap for the AT/MT swap, and some extras...
-One problem is that he claims there to be an oil leak where the pump meets the block... actual leak source? cost of repair?

Mod List:

K&N Cold Air Intake
HKS Timing Belt
Zacklee Clear Timing Belt Cover
NGK BPR7ES Spark Plugs
NGK Spark Plug Wires
1G BOV
Slotted and Cross Drilled Racing Brake Rotors on all four wheels
Battery Relocated To Trunk
2.5" Cat-back exhaust with "stock looking" chrome tips
Marshall Boost and Oil Pressure Gauges
Aftermarket Halo Headlights

- A box of 6 brand new never used NGK BPR7ES spark plugs.
- A haynes repair manual. Because every DSM should come with one

-All above included for $4,000 US obo

-GO/NO-GO?
What could be the source of the oil leak? Fixable, if so how much?
-What should I check on the 1G Motor, even though it's free with the car?
-What else should I check on the car itself besides a compression test and checking for crankwalk? Or should i just pay up for a 75-100$ mechanical inspection to be done pre-buy?
-I'd plan to use that motor and do the AT/MT swap, about how much would it run me?

Thanks!

135k is kinda high for a 99, my 97 has 110k but other than that sounds like the waterpump is shot. you can change that urself easily. but we would have to see pictures of the car....

AWD conversion is very challenging, and your better off looking for a GSX. but if you wanna challenge yourself go ahead

Wow, thank you for the quick response, kind sir. May I ask a few questions while i provide you all with some pics as requested?

Waterpump is the source of the leak? What makes you say that? Sorry i don't follow what you mean, if you could elaborate, I'm a bit of a new on oil leak location on a 4G63T motor, the 4G63 NT motors are the ones I've found research on in regards to oil leak locations and possible culprits based on leak location.

Pics? Here they are... (sorry they dont get bigger then that , craigslist... -_-)

-Ok so an AWD conversion might be a bit much. I might have to do more research, now that i think about it, It was a very ambitious hope but a GSX would be well out of my price limit.

-So how about swapping in that 6bolt 1G 5-speed off a 91 that is included?

-Hmmm.. 135 is a bit high? I keep hearing and seeing posts about how the 2G's can hi t upwards of 300k no problem if properly maintained.

Do you think it might have other underlying issues he's not stating upfront? So this means i should probably go for that pre-buy independent mechanical inspection then...

yeah check for rust all over the car, just tear it apart, well not really, just look over everything. if you search you can find a cheap GSX, bought mine for 3600, found it on cars.com but the reason the water pumps like to leak is from air getting into the pump itself. maybe someone changed the antifreeze at one time. but once air hits a used water pump it will never run right. not sure why, maybe a rusting problem? swapping is swapping. its gonna be work and make sure you label all the stuff you take off. yes label it. i didnt and that was a bad idea when i rebuilt my old DSM.... but now i will for my current one. I persoanlly would keep the auto tranny in it. (a lot less work).. make sure to test drive it and floor the crap out of it. and check the turbo for shaft play. make sure the tranny shifts smooth. make sure there is no knocking in the engine, lifter tick is okay... i guess. if you need anything else email me here [email protected] ill pretty tired right now from typing so i wont go into any more detail. :]

Ok so I have a esi talon 97 power everything. Automatic tranny. has a small tranny leak good paint nice everything taken car of like a baby about 35000 miles on the rebuilt engine. clean title. What's it worth:cool:
