Either way, I have a chassis that has 4 wheels touching the ground with no axles and it rolls, if the hubs(the 5 studs that stick out that you mount the wheels onto) are gone, I wouldn't risk towing it. Yes your 3g rims/wheels will fit. i have them for my car :D GL! I hope it's a good chassis! I know i'm enjoying my build!

well I got the pictures and this thing is in AWESOME condition. He wouldn't budge on the price but I am still getting a great deal. And it has the front hubs/wheels thank god! I'll post some good pictures on sunday when I get it home since the ones I got he just sent to my phone.

paid 900 for my roller had a new factory like paint job not a dent on the car.also came with 3g rims1000$ coilovers,afac,4 bolt rear/e prom and stock computer, tranny, blown 7 bolt, raceing steering wheel, great interior and a alarm.power everything.it was a 93 talan awd turbo 5 speed.i think i got a good deal on it.

I'm getting a deal that I can't pass up. I'll post questions then mods below. Thanks in advance.

I went out with the current owner today and the car has a few minor problems. First the clutch was slipping like mad. It'll need a new one, he thinks it has an ACT2600 (that is also what's listed on the mods) but the pedal didn't feel nearly stiff enough (I daily drove a g1 years ago with a 2100) so I wonder if someone put a stock clutch in it, should I go to a 2900?

The other problem is the A/F gauge is pinned all the way to the rich side and never changes does this mean it has the wrong sender?

Also the alternator is toast, he said it was replaced once before (current one is under warranty and is just a cheap parts store alt) am I going to be ok with a stock replacement or should I put a high amp alt in?

Also EGTs were hovering right around 12-1300 while cruising, this seems a bit high to me or is this normal for a DSM (seems like my 1g would peak @ 1500 or so and stay at 1k or so cruising, but its been a while).

All that said this car is SickityMcSick even with the clutch slipping it pulls hard.

That's about it. Any thoughts?

2900 is probably overkill, I wouldn't put another ACT in my car again. Just check some vendors from here and see what is good for the wallet and your power range

Honestly, I'm not ecstatic with some of the parts used on the build - it seems like the guy might not have had a full grasp on what he was doing. Perhaps more money than knowledge? Regardless, if you're getting it for a song then I'd jump on it, but just be ready for a few surprises to jump up and bite you.

Can you elaborate? As far as surprises go that's how it is with used cars, especially used modded cars.

Right off the bat, I'd be curious what kind of 'light weight' oil pump he got. Oil pumps are one of the few things on this car I won't deviate from OEM on due to bad experiences with the suck-happy aftermarket ones I've seen in use. It's just completely unnecessary - you'll have all the oil pressure you could ever want with deleted balance shafts, not to mention the OEM oil pump is bullet proof (also did he have a shaft put on with an oil galley). I'm also curious why he didn't go with a true 3" turbo-back. Then, he has a non-working turbo timer, which isn't even necessary in the first place IMHO. Then to tie all this together he has a 2k computer running the show (which isn't bad mind you, but unnecessarily expensive). It just seems to me from the flashy names adorning the components that it was bought more to 'bling' than to be efficient and cost-effective. Does he have some dyno sheets showing what kind of power he's getting from this? Again, it's not bad per-se, it's just a little too glitzy for my taste, which kind of leads me to believe he went more with brand names than researching what works the best.

uhh. dude. this car is missing all the necessary fuel modifications:ohdamn:

LOL Agreed. Since the build and mods were done buy the owner before the guy I'm getting it from its tough to say. When the current owner got it the car it barely ran, the owner before him "ran out of money" so go figure (this owner bought the car non running from ebay). All that aside there are some deviations from those specs and I'll get to the bottom of what it really has after I get it on Monday. No dyno sheets to be found just guesses.

erald- I have a friend who runs a 3.2 on his WRX that makes ~350WHP and it holds well do you think the 4.3 is overkill? Won't just about any ceramic 4 or 6 puck clutch do the job?

ya just dont go with a 2900. you will not enjoy it. unless you going completely drag strip happy. a 2600 would be fine or any comperable clutch system to that. the fidanza 3.5 should be good. theres to many to pic from.

Go with 2600 max. You wont need anything else. As far as the rest is concerned, just take it to a shop. Your time is worth more than it would take for a reputable shop to troubleshoot the thing. The fuel mods are an obvious flag that you are inheriting a setup that needs a full inspection. Take care of that and work from there.

Wow, thanks for all the input good to see that the DSM community is alive and kicking!

Yeah, I'll get the alt done right away (easy for me to do) and then get the clutch done and have it looked over when the clutch is being done. I have to drive a few hours to get to a dyno but I will have it dyno tuned.

After some thought I am wondering if my autometer A/F is compatible with my UEGO. Its odd that it has an autometer A/F when the UEGO usually comes with one.

Any ideas on what kind of power I can expect on 91 pump gas?

What about the EGTs? No one has commented so I guess they are alright?

Any thoughts on the high amp alternator?

If you are looking for a higher than stock output for an alternator, but dont feal like modding for a saturn alternator. I must suggest using a canadian one. I know it sounds foolish but its explained somewere on the vfaqs I think, that a canadian alternator outputs around 10 amps more (can't seam to find the article now).

Hello All,
I have been looking at DSM's for awhile now, and really wanted a GSX/Tsi/Laser for a long time now. I found this Talon a couple hours away from south and I was wondering if you could tell me what you think of it and how much you think I should offer him for it. I am still away at school, so I haven't gone down to look at it. I was going to do that in 2 weeks when I get home if they still have it for sale. Anyways here are the details. It is a 95 Talon Tsi AWD with 131,132 miles. Body is in ok shape. It has paint peeling on some sections of the car and scratches on other parts. They are asking 3,500 for it, but do you think i can get away with offering them less? Here are the list of mods:
