I'm looking at a 92 talon AWD. He wants $2000 for it. The car has 124,XXX miles on it. The interior is in show room condition, as good as my 99 was when I got it. The car has had a rear quarter panel put on it. I have done this many times, and its done right. Decent paint on the car, only the quarter has been painted. Runs great. All stock no mods at all. What is the car worth? I'm thinking really hard about going and getting it in the next few days.

As long as its not burning alot of oil or leaking any fluids I would pay 2k. Especially from the sound of the interior it appears it has been taken care of. Just my opinion

I know its a 6 bolt motor, but the 4 bolt diff. I dont know. The car doesn't smoke at all. Not even when you crank it. The guy's son drove it. It got side swiped on the quarter and he bought another car and put a quarter on it. My cousin bought the car he cut up. He's gonna fix it too. It was Identical to this one. The guy claims that all matinance has been done on the car. So, I'm still pondering it.

Thanks Guys,

Hey, Im looking at this black 92 vr4 thats for sale. It has alot of miles on it, 141k and its $6000. Is there anything that goes bad on them at a certain mileage? Supposidly the only thing that doesnt work is the passenger side window. Do any parts normally break on vr4's? Is $6000 a good price? He would probably take like $5500 in cash.

Thanks in advance,
Kyle

What is the condition of the car? How does the paint and exterior look? Is it stock, some mods, heavy mods, etc. 6000 is roughly what kbb.com says the car is worth, but I wouldn't bet the farm on that. Now 4500 - 5000, maybe. If I want someting bad enough, i'll pay for it. What is your feelings on the car? Does something seem fishy? If so, then maybe it is. Go with you gut feeling, and don't trust the person selling the car. I bought my GST and got hosed. The day I drove it home the check engine light came on and the ISC motor crapped the bed. All in all, a used car is a used car. Taken car of over the years, (oil change, timing belt change, plugs, wires, etc) with maintenance it should be ok. However, remember, the car does have 141000 miles on it.

now I love gvr4s but for $6000 and that many miles...no way man sorry it can be clean and all but $6k damn it's a 92 ! and btw kbb is maybe half of $6k for the car the only problem is gvr4s b/c of their rarity are not sold by kbb usually

GVR-4, personally I wouldn't do it for $6000, $3-3.5K would be better for me, overall it still has 141K miles on it and it is a 92. That would still leave you money to help modify too.

3kGTVR-4, personally I might do it, the only problem is that they weigh so much and they don't have bang for the buck.

did ANY of you click the link? its a 3000gt vr-4 and it looks real clean..... inside, outside, and engine bay... whoever owned it really took care of it. i'd buy it if i didnt have my dsm. plus its a vr-4! also, this isnt a 3000gt forum, 3000gt isnt talked about on here (i think)but i do know that they can get FAST! i dont know where the site went, but it had these red vr-4's running 10's on stock internals if i can recall correctly... plus they look real nice and that one is near flawless

Sorry, I just wanted to post in a general area about it, but there is one site I go to www.3si.org. Ill have to take it for a test drive maybe he will take $5500 cash :D

Thanks for all of the replys,

Kyle

O ok for a 3000gt ya that's not a bad price you should definetly think about it man...thanks :talon: :dsm: - I'd definetly consider it

How do the stock turbos hold up? 141k miles on stock turbos seems a bit much. I should be making alot of money over the summer so I was thinking of upgrading the turbos anyways. I just dont want to buy the car then it craps out on me.

Seems reasonable enough. KBB.com quoted 8,800 as the retail price for that car in my area. Perhaps it is different in your area, but 2/3 of the blue book value isn't bad. It looks really clean from the photos too.

check the turbos when you look at it, remove the pipes and wiggle the the wheel for shaft play, im not exactly sure of what is acceptible, someone on here most likely knows...i know its within a few mm, but not sure exactly

my buddy, just got a 3000gt vr4 for 5500 with 140k on it. he is def happy with it looks great and those engines last FOREVER. def a great car and a head turner. i would love to get one hope to get one someday. one huge draw back. the weight. its so much. find a way to loose weight it would be amazing. i say if you can trust the guy and give it a good test drive and you like it. def get it.

Thanks,

Im trying to get ahold of the guy. He is busy lately since he is a police officer as he says. But he says it would need a new 3rd gear synchro, he says it costs liek $300, good thing tho is that my sisters boyfriend is a mechanic and has his own shop so I could get it fixed easily and cheaply.

It would be worth $7,200 in "GOOD" condition according to kelly's blue book. He isn't ripping you off. That car looks clean and if I was interested in the VR4 that'd be one I'd take.

I was thinking about picking up a 2g GS-T or GSX. I am looking to spend between $9,000-$12,000 on one, my targeted first choice is a GSX, the awd and the other pros of it make this a top choice however what if I come accrossed a nice GS-T, should I overlook it? This is going to be initially a basic mods car for now, I want a low mileage turbo 2g so that if I do see my situation fit to go onto APU mods then I can without having the high mileage worries however the common threat to DSM worries the shit out of me, even when buying it seems to be a pain in the ass because of some symptoms that DO show up and some that do not. I want to find a clean clean turbo 2g, under 70k-80k and do the basics, then if I see it fit and my finances are situated then I can move onto the next level. I am aware of the pros and cons of GS-T vs. GSX but I am wondering if in my search for the well taken care of GSX, if I find a great condition well taken care of GS-T should I feel guilty for taking that over holding out for the GSX, would it be a mistake to let the perfect GS-T that comes my way slip through my fingers? Thanks in advance

if i were you, id get a gsx (awd launch baby!) but i would look for a high mileage, possibly shot motor, because i would have no plans of using a 7bolt ever, however they arent all that bad, i'd just prefer security in a 6bolt rather than a 7. crankwalk will become a problem down the road in a 2g no doubt, but i wouldnt stress about it. so, this pointless post summarizes:
gsx
swap a 6bolt
for 12k$ you can EASILY get a gsx and swap a 6bolt

This would be a car loan, I won't want to pick up a blown up motor car, I want something low mileage and turbo, GS-T or X, like I said the X is my top choice but I don't know weather or not I should overlook a nice GS-T if it comes to me first. I am mainly concerned with say I get the car, do a 6 bolt swap right away, how much will that cost and will I still need to worry about Cwalk of my engine breaking under Stage 1 mods?

A gst or gsx are both nice but the final decision is up to you. You know most are going to say gsx so I dont think a post on tuners will help you very much. I myself wouldnt even look for a gst but your interest might be differant than mine. Good luck with your search and let us know what you find.

Either one man. I was in the same boat as you when looking to get my new car. I settled on a GST, but I wish I would of bought a GSX for nothing other then AWD. Other then that, the cars are the same for the most part..... my .02
