I have taken a ride in my friend Juan's Evo, but his has a reprogrammed ecu, which greatly boosted his power. I'm talking about a stock evo; they aren't that bad, but I didn't expect a SRT-4 with only a couple mods to smoke one. Especially from the launch I thought since it was AWD it would take off, but even then it still didn't pull. I think though that the guy driving it didn't know how to shift because he was like 5 or 6 cars behind the srt-4.

I am thinking about buying this gsx. only problem is that it is heavily modified, and i kinda wanted to do a gsx myself. it has most of the parts i was going to purchase anyway. check it out and let me know if i should even consider buying it...thanks...Frank
Possibly my future gsx

Exactly... modded already

IMO (and most others around here)

Whats that use of buying a DSM if you can't experiance it for yourself?
With the kinda money you can build a pretty serious ride. Don't do it (my 2 cents)

Have Fun

Yeah, buying a car someone else modded would be no fun for me. But if you're just looking for a really fast car that you don't have to do any work on, go for it.

yes you never want anybody elses mistakes. they modded it, meaning they more than likely raced it.

find a stock one for about 9-10g's, then drop the 7g's youd save from buying that one, and youd have one badass gsx.

Don't buy a heavvily modified car they could have raced it until the shit was dead. First Thing i would check to see if the rods are knocking that is a heavy problem on raced cars. Get it checked out by some mechanic or if you know a lot check it to make sure it is not going to die on you within 2 months. Another danger is that 2nd generation manual transimission dsm's are known to cranckwalk and other disasters.

Stop posting dumb shit. First off ... there's not need to say "shit" ... say CAR!!! That gets annoying. Second ... you own a crx ( well maybe .. nobody knows after all your lies ) so go worry about your 1 gallon gas tank instead of crankwalk or "other disasters".

Now to the car. I think it's a badass car and has low miles. I bought my gsx with a bigger turbo and a lotta other mods, but I ended up redoing them all. I ended up selling EVERYTHING the car came with except for the exhaust and I redid it and built up the motor as well. My reason for buying mine was also the low mileage and nice mods, however buying a stock one would have been MUCH cheaper. If you have the money to spend then do it ... if not buy a stock one for 10k and go from there. Good luck :thumb:

im gonna listen to you guys. i had a great time building my gs up from stock. it wasnt much in the speed department, but building it was all the fun.

yes i do not want another persons troubles. im just gonna keep looking and when a car comes around i want, ill buy it...

yo i found 98 5speed with 70k mile for 14g ill try to get the number and give it to ya.. im from jersey too!! i wish i could get it but no license yet hopefully ill get my gsx soon!! hehehe if ya want pm me ill find out the number n send it to you

I watched helplessly 2 nights ago as my friend with a Mustang V-8 (stock, except exhaust and clutch) pulled up next to an evo 8. Then I also watched helplessly as the Mustang ate up the evo. No contest after 2nd gear...and this Mustang runs high HIGH 13s. Not what i expected from that car at all...i was very disappointed.

And u could imagine i heard about that :thumbdown

Upgrade the clutch = no warantee when the tranny breaks instead of the clutch.

I hear that a few owners are having issues with the transfer case failing, even with the stock clutch. Upgrade the clutch and you can be sure you'll lose your warranty.

If I were looking for a new car, it would be a new EVO, no doubt. There are pre-owned ones out on the market already, and the prices on them are tempting, too. But I would be concerned about first year problems and as to whether or not they have been beatened on. With the MR most likely coming to the US, I think used EVOs will go for cheap. Probably the best bet is a used 2004 EVO, but I don't think they have worked out any of the first year problems with the '04 EVO.

I checked with my insurance (Progressive) on how much I would be paying if I was to buy an EVO, here are the details:

Policy Level Coverages

Bodily Injury & Property Damage: 100/300/50
Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist: 100/300
Uninsured Motorist Property Damage: n/a

Vehicle Level Coverages

Comprehensive: 500
Collision: 500

Premium: $1,163.90 for 6 months

Just to give you an idea, I'm 25 and I have one bad record which is a "Drag Racing" (4 points on your DMV record:( ) charge 3 years ago. Right now I'm paying $984.90 on my 98 GST Spyder so it's only a $179.00 increase which isn't bad if you ask me. So if you have a prettly clean record and around my age, your insurance shouldn't be too bad.

Evo 8 is not worth the $$.:thumbdown

i dont know considering i could probably spend less then 1500 on a evo and get it into the 12's is a ncie feature with a full warranty which i know my mitsu dealership wont void for any reason, you also get a bad ass interior exterior a good clutch/brakes and everything else id probably want. say you spend 13000 on a nice gsx than by the time you get adding all the mods a evo has including brakes a suspension mods u will be well over 5k doin it yuorself and probably closer to 7 or 8k havin someone else do it..so now your runnin 13's in a 5 year old car for almost 20,000 with probably like 60k on the clock. than take into consideration the lancer has a better awd system and handles much much better than our cars and imo it looks pretty bad ass...so i dunno 28k for a evo seems like a good deal to me...30k and ya got a brand new 12sec car

thats a lot of cash for the miles...

I'll tell you this. If you want a fun performance car that spank the pants off a lot of cars STOCK, that has a warranty and some nice added features, get an EVO. If you want to spend a few thousand more and get something that has a smoother ride, look at the 350Z or G35. I strongly believe that an EVO at $28k is not a waste of money. Just my $.02 and I'm biased because I own EVO.

hahaha yeah i kno but its lightly mod if im correct.. if i get more info ill let ya kno iite but when i saw it it was lil bit mod tho~

Sounds like everybody was expecting an open-class super car out of the EVO8. Just goes to show when you expect too much how much you'll be let down when reality smacks you in the face. The truth is the EVO8 is an awesome car that anyone would take over their DSMs. All this talk about how a V8 Mustang whooped an EVO is like apples and oranges. It's not too simple to figure out, 4.6 liters vs. 2 liters....hmmm.....goes to show that is there is no replacement for displacement. But I'd still get an EVO8 over a mustang cuz the car OVERALL is much, much more appealing. If racing domestics is your only concern, buy a '92 CRX for $2k and drop $25k in the engine and wholla, you beat your mustang......but who wants to own a POS CRX that's not an everyday driver?!?!??!

Course you could get a 98 Camaro SS for about $18K and buy a supercharger and a few other mods and whoop 'em all. *shrugs* Just buy what you like!!!
