Evo 8 isnt worth S$%& I saw a Dodge Srt-4 with only a fuel pump, and blow off valve smoke a evo. It even launched faster then the piece of S&$%.:thumbdown :thumbdown :thumbdown :thumbdown :thumbdown

you gotta take a ride in one, try putting a evo in 2nd, flooring it into a 90 degree corner... and come back with the results :)
here's my results: it dips slightly, then freezes...

then it feels like youre on a moving barstool. At first you giggle because there's virtually no body roll, then the boost hits and it pushes you back. I'm on throttle the whole time, and there was not one tire squeel. Try doing that in a dodge! hahaha

Thats why i bought mine :D
also, the stopping distance being better than a ferrari 360 modena helped also.

Howz your clutch holding up? Does it slip (burn) when going WOT from a rolling start?

i've read issues about the clutch, havent had any problems with mine (only 700miles on the odo). A buddy of mine, (a mitsu master mechanic that owns a evo) commented that it's designed to be crappy so newbs dont kill the drivetrain. A upgraded clutch / removal of the restrictor and steel braided lines will further strengthen the bulletproof 5spd. I mean, how many high power dsm'ers stick to their oem clutch anyways?

who the hell would bring up an SRT-4 anyways?!?!?! Go EVO!!! The ONLY way I can see an SRT-4 beating an EVO is if the EVO had NO idea what he was doing....other than that, there isn't much an EVO won't smoke...it could hang with a Camaro SS in the 0-60 range...that's awesome in my book!!!

For that price I will convert a EVO VII, speaking off I found a shop that buys and converts any newer JDM car to US specs and sells them again, this include EVO VII, VII, STis, Integras Type-R (RSX), Silvias (S15), but its my little secret.:shhh:

Mine is fine; 9k and going strong. The car was not built to drag race on the stock clutch. A 5500k launch is rough on any AWD car.

In response to the SRT-4, with equal drivers behind the wheel, the EVO will hand the SRT-4 its ass.....period.

If youre going to keep secrets from us, then you're not part of the dsmtuners team!

www.evolutionimports.com will sell evo 7+8 + sti+itr made legal for the states.

Since my previous deal fell through, I was looking for a talon and found one two streets down from my house. Has 160,000 on the clock, wants $1800 but he said if I gave him $1500 he'd let me take it. Body has little paint fade on the spoiler, new ECU, alternator, and new calipers. Engine is clean, starts right up, shifts great for the mileage, and no rust. I'm gonna get a compression test done on it and go from there. If it checks out, would you guys pick up a 91 TSi AWD for $1500? I plan on rebuilding tranny and engine, basic maitenence and going from there.

Personally I would present $1000 cash to start things off and i probably wouldn't go over $1200. That's if it checks out good like you said.

Ass! fuggin tell us! I would love to own a Evo by the time im 21, and that sounds like the only realistic way!

1500 aint bad as long as the compression checks out ok. Figure maybe 2-2.5k with a lower mileage motor, you can get it rebuilt for the difference if you had to.

Good luck getting any of their cars registered or insured legally. I cant tell you how many people purchased MR's through their Ebay ads just to get ripped off.

thanks for the advice, guys. I hope to get a compression test done on Monday. Also, anything in particular to look out for on a 1g DSM that can cause major problems?

i got mine for sale for 1k right now with 30k on rebuilt motor and 142k on the car with act2600 all else stock with the body pretty clean. So i think that what is wants is a bit to much. You could find alot better.

well, there are little dsms around here where I live. But, they are suddenly showing up for sale everywhere. A co-worker is selling his '90 Talon TSi AWD for $1800. There is no way in hell he'll get that much for it. From what I heard, oil pump locked up and destroyed the timing belt. Car doesn't run, body is rough, tranny will need to be rebuilt, and he wants $1800 for it. I'd offer him $450 at most. I found a 91 GSX about 30 miles away w/new engine + tranny, only thing I could see was an exhaust with the cat about to fall off, plus it looked like he had sideswiped something by the way the door looked. Basically, when dsms go for sale around here, they are either trashed and have been neglected or have been well taken care of.

evo and sti insurance are through the ####in roof 4 doors or not they look at the cars as c type cars or level 3 cars which is high theft/speed/ticket/crash ect ect rating your insurance will have a hella incraese i got quoted for a evo a week ago when i was rx8 shoppnig and it was 76 bucks more a month so screw that but i do on the otherhand think its worth 30k but id wait to the evo MR's come out because there gonna have another 60 horsepower or so and there supposed to run high 12's STOCK so should be intresting

btw dont knock the srt 4 because factory there rated at like 13.5 on the 1/4 mile on a FWD car do 300 bucks in mods and you can keep up with a evo if not beat it if your a good driver for 20k they are the best bang for the buck with a hella strong motor...to bad the clutch is in a crap spot it sits so low...o and the cars are hella ugly and uncomfy

who cares about srt4s ... they are ###. This is about an evo anyway. Honestly, 2 of my friends have evos and I say they are not worth it. Some arguments are ... well they have HIDs ... they have recaros ... they have brembo brakes. Well still, you are spending 30k on a car that rides like ass. I admit it handles awesome and that's what it was built for, but for daily driving the ride is horrible. HIDS and recaros are not needed. I have a 2g with over 400 whp and just put on an AEM bbk. The car has plenty of stopping power, looks better than the evo in my opinion ... and is a lot more powerful. My friend really babies his evo and his clutch is dead at 8k. He bought a new clutch and flywheel for $850 and install is crazy on that car too. There's some extra steps to remove the trans on that car. Anyways ... get a 99gsx if you want a mitsu awd turbo or a 92 gsx. Otherwise ... look into a g35 or a 350z.

upgraded suspension on any car would result in a horrible ride...

HIDs and recaro's arent needed? I guess it's time for me to upgrade to my 2g stock leather seats and 9005 silverstars. The brembos should be thrown out too... i mean, they only stop better than a 360 modena?

the evo looks like ass? IMHO, it looks like a kickass grocery getter.. haha.. to each his own

My clutch is going fine.. if he doesnt launch/hard downshift with them then they should last longer. If not, he has a lemon. Evo clutches were designed to be weak, like the wrx's so that honda owners that buy a awd for the first time and do 5-6k launches to destroy the drivetrain and claim warranty...

a 99GSX is a awesome car to get, if you're not a baller and want cheap speed.
g35/350z's are pimp, but performance wise it's crap vs. the evo/STI.

IMHO, why in the world would you go FWD with a dodge SRT4? When you start making serious horsepower, RWD/AWD is the way to go... I don't want to explain this further but if a FWD makes you happy:thumb:
