Dad sold it. and i need a 4 door and i want to stay dsm and have never look into galants. Are all galant models junk besides the vr-4? or would this be worth putting money into?

id rather get a 4 door swapped civic or integra then the galant that's not the vr4.But that's just my opinion cause id never get a dsm in less it was turbo cause i see no real plus after you lose the awd and turbo.I hate these cars i just love the awd and turbo LOL.But i no one on here that ive seen has the non turbo galant. Its kind of a unseen thing is the dsm world i guess you can say.

Edit.I'm looking for you if i find anything i will post it

We have an "Official Thread" for these kinds of threads. "Official What's this DSM worth Thread." ;) Just for future reference.

It looks clean, but this one does not have the 4g63 (as I'm sure you already know) the only trim that came with the 4g63 was the VR-4.

Wrong. The Galant GSX also came with the 4g63 but it was not turboed from the factory.

They usually came with the 4G63 (2.0L) SOHC version in that age era.

Later models came with the 4G64 - the same motor that is in the 2G spyder RS.

Definitely a good reduction for the insurance rates -a 4dr sedan.. I'd jump on it in a heartbeat being that good looking and clean as it is..

i think i just found my car.

91 galant vr4

2.3 Motor
16g turbo (confirmed), running 15PSI
Evo 4 FMIC
Open Downpipe
Have 3in downpipe that will come with the car
boost controller
Boost and Oil pressure gauges

dont know the miles yet but at this point i dont care. he added tranny fluid and found a leak . anyone know ### that could be? sorry to be so broad

hey i just wanted to say that i test drove that car first galant. it has a 4g63 motor in it and it drove really good. i would have bought it if i didnt find my tsi for the price i got it at. the cars body was in really good shape. i mean if you dont buy that vr4 then the other galant is a great buy if you ask me.

dude.... honda.... nokay. check the maximas out. 4th gen 97-99 hot fire. and you can get them cheap. i was gettin 27 mpg and its a 6 banger! i dont wanna see a dsmr get a honda terd thing, and teggis are ok but the four doors look like garbage in my book, you cant have a 4 door car thats supposed to be a 2door. granted the body is a little more rigid but dang it looks ###. i can show you pics of my old max, its sexy lookin way more sexy than a honda or 4door teg

I had a local boy offer me a 93 tegy with a gsr head and LOTS!!! of mods and I simply turned him down, despite them pissing me off so much over the years I wouldnt drive anything other than a DSM or an Fbody.thats why im opting to get a $300 laser 1.8 right now to drive untill I can fix my 91 GS-T or sell it and get me a local AWD Talon I found for cheap.:sneaky:

something is up with that galant vr4,a stroked block is nearly worth that alone?dont forget to take a look at the ecu before you buy it.

just ask the owner if they where replaced recently, they leak acid on to the circuit board a new ecu will cost you about $200..

I searched first.

So here's the deal. A guy has a 90 GSX for sale for 1500. It has exhaust, 5 speed, 166k miles. That's about as much as I know. What should I ask and look for? I already sent out an email asking about regular maintenence and problems. What else should I ask him.

If he doesn't know, what should I physically look at on the car? Besides body damage/interior damage. Are they prone to interior water leaks (I have a CRX right now, guess what I'm dealing with :-/ )? Do they have any common mechanical problems? Does a turbo with 166k require a rebuild? Anything and everything I should look for. I already asked him if he would consider doing a compression/leak down test.

What else do I need to know? School me my friends.

BTW I'm pretty sure if this guy is a no go I'm going for an AWD DSM regardless, so anything I need to know would be awesome. Thanks.

well here is my situation one of my friends/neighbors has a 99 gst for sale. He is unsure of the price but it does have a blown motor. I have the intention of purchasing it and performing the engine swap with a friend of mine. Here is the problem we have never done anything like this before and we both really want to get into this project. we are not sure how hard this is going to be, what tools we will need, the cost ect. Do you guys think two inexperienced 19 year old's can do this??

search around on this site for info on the swap. many people have done this swap and made excellent write ups on how to do it. all the information you are looking for is on this site, all you have to do is look for it.

You should be able to do the swap. How much research have you done? Members on here are very helpful with answering questions.

Have you decided to stay with the 2g 7 bolt or go with the 1g 6 bolt engine? Also is it a manual or auto?

Heck, if I lived closer I'd come and help you guys with the swap.

If you get an identical engine, just mark every hose, bolt, and connector. Mark it on the car end and the new motor end. Also put your bolts in baggies and label them. Keep them all in a box. Take pictures along the way for reference. If you want, you can also keep a list of what you do, so you can go in reverse order.

What exactly is wrong with the engine in the car? You might not have to pull the whole engine.

People use the words "blown engine" to mean anything from bad rings to bent valves (from skipped timing or a broken timing belt) to a piston grenading and the rod going through the block.

I do as well i been taking apart 1g's since i was 16 with my cousin's. Its like Bud92gsx says with the right research you can take ont this project. And the first place to start is by buying a Haynes manual for your 99 eclipse and of coure here on DSM TUNERS. Good luck!!!

well if its any incouragement, im a 21yr old female, i never swapped an engine but i am going to school for auto, just got done with first semester, and had 2 1/2 years of work exp. so i do have some general knowledge about auto's but it can be done depending on how bad you want it...
enough with my life story...i have pics posted on my profile of me taking it out and finding out what was wrong...but be sure to pu every bolt in a ziplock bag or some thing and label them where you took them out of even if you dont think your going to need them...
And your mostly going to need 10mm,12mm,13mm,14mm, sockets...and a torque wrench and a dial indicator when your putting it all back together...goodluck
BTW: THE CAR LOOKS KICK ASS..
:):talon:
