yeah its a 420a, id say go for it! looks good and a good price. Id suggest a 40 minute test drive at varying speeds.(thats how you know its good) obviously any leaking or smoking, see if he"ll let you do a compression test even.

i just paypaled the guy $2300 so ill be picking it up tomorrow. sorry beat you to it.

LOL oh ... well theres a few more im looking at but that just has to be the cheapest one ive actually found around where i live... n if you did buy it have fun with it n tell me about... and these things you guys have said ive thought bout like the compression test and stuff and smoking and stuff.. i mean idk bout dsm's yet so i got alot to learn

oh another thing 420a is that a good block..? or motor and if it is shittty then id gut it built or apparently said it already is but would it be good for running high hp numbers?

Look for a gst or gsx, or talon tsi bud, the 420a motor is ...well kinda junk. If you plan on putting a turbo on it you will need to build all the internals or else you can only run like 5-7psi on the stock ones. The 4G63 motor you find in GST OR GSX's can withstand a lot more boost without modifications.

well heres a talon i was looking at doesnt seem to bad 95 Eagle Talon TSi AWD - NEW LOW PRICE
but hasn't been dyno'd but u think if he got it ( tuned ) he would at least get some type of number ... but im wondering if it has been tuned.. but he also didnt say if it has so idk... and im not to fond of ppl driving cars around untuned.... seen alota ppl blow there motors or mess them up real bad by now getting them tuned... and alota ppl around where i live try to find the quick easy power but dont like to do stuff right n them boom there $hit outa luck so idk what do u guys think bout that car though.

First, if this is in the wrong section, my apologies, would a mod please move if is.

Ok im 17 and Im currently driving a 05 Cobalt SS/SC as my dd. im paying $300 a month for it and my dad is covering for insurance which is like $100 a month. i use to have a 97 eclipse i purchased for $500 from some small dealership and some guy offered $1200 for like 3 days later so i took it ha
anyways, that same dealership has a white 95 Rs 5spd and its been sittin there for i want to say around year an half. they are asking $800 to get rid of it but i can prob get it for $600. but of course couple things are wrong with it
1) black smoke out the exhaust, believe to be caused by the missing MAP sensor adapter
2) front radiator support frame is all bent up, but my dad owning a shop said he can fix it
3) no radio/ac/heat controls - which is no big deal

i dont plan on driving this thing, i just want to buy it to learn from it, tear it apart, try an rebuild it, if i have any trouble with it my dads mechanic will help me.

but my question is i have about $900 in my pocket and a car note due feb5th of only $200.
should i go ahead and buy the eclipse or should i go ahead and get ahead on my current car and not have to worry about it until around may5th?
i would dump money into my cobalt and i am doing acouple bolt ons to it but i dont want to do anything serious to it until i have to bc its my daily driver and i cant have down time at all.

any opinions welcome! thanks!

It looks like a decent car. It has dsmlink V2 so it has had some tuning but probably all done by the owner which could be good or bad pending on his/her knowledge base. I would go check it out and take it for a test drive if you are seriously interested. The only thing I can see that I dont like is the BOV isn't recirculated and I cant tell if that is rust on the passenger strut tower or not(sorry I'm on my phone).

My question is, the car has 123k on it and I know the owner that has had it for the last 3 or 4 years and he has never had a single problem out of it, so I was wondering if he has had it this long and not had any crank walking issues do I really need to worry about it? Ive driven it a good bit and everythings feels real good and it runs perfectly, but I dont want to get into a big mess by buying this car. Also (this guy does not know anything about cars) he had a new top put on and with both tops old and new he said he has always had to push on one of the bows in the top to get it to go down and if not it gets stuck about half way. He has taken it to the dealer and the place who put on the new top and they both told him that it was normal and not to worry about it? That does not seem normal to me. I have a 2000 MR2 Spyder of course it has a manual top but I dont have to push on anything weird to get it to go down nor can I find anything on this board (so far) about anyone saying they have to push on any bar or bow to get there top to go down. Any info would be apprecitated, just for the record I have read all the newbie things and did a search but after 3 hours of searching I got tired so I posted here. thanks in advance:thumb:

I'd be skeptical of that '95. Price seems fair if the mod list is accurate. The "Garrett 56 trim" does not jive with "ported 2G manifold". A T3/T4 garrett will not bolt onto a stock exhaust manifold.

WTF How can you tell?

i assume from the block?

i see and i think the talon does have a little rust on the shock tower... at least it looks like it does i did read something on a forum about one of the yrs getting rust on the shock tower. i cant rember which year it is. also long as he engine is built it should be ok right getting into the higher hp numbers?
