OMG your right, wow how could i have been so stupid, i was thinking well atleast the tachometer is working, but yeah the GST could have like 160,000 miles on it for all i know, thank you so much in pointing that out, im gonna have to ask him when the speedometer went out but then he could lie and say like last month or something, yeah now im really leaning towards the GSX

Is 4800 obo too much for a stock 97 Gsx manual w/ 124k? Im goin to look at it tomorrow just looking for some advice.

i read every single word of your post... and i appreciate your time in writing all that. everyday i pretty much spend like hours just reading about GSX's and GST's but when buying one, i know sometimes you just gotta take peoples word for it because you just cant pop out the tranny and see whats inside. right now im leaning more towards the gsx but im going to try and test drive both and see which one is willing to drop the price a notch.

as for the midwest meets... i am soo willing to go. here in wisconsin there isnt really an active chapter, i know of WIDSM but they arent active so i've heard. i am also willing to get that chapter up and running with the help of other WIDSM'rs and get some wisconsin meets going on at a track or something, and then an all out midwest meet, man i am getting excited already haha. i wish there was a track or strip here in madison, they would make soo much money, hmm maybe i'll start it haha

happy new years to you too and to everyone else

Hey man. It makes me happy to know that you took the time to really read it and you're welcome. I'm always willing to lend a helping hand. As for taking people's word for it, you don't have to. It can be a tough call sometimes. And yes, I agree that tearing the car down in front of the current owner is not usually going to happen. However, take a good look at the seller and make your own evaluation of him/her. Check out your/their surroundings. Do they have nice things or is their place a dump? How do they handle themselves? Do they seem a bit off or straight up no BS? At first, the guy I bought mine from seemed nice enough, and now, thinking back on it, there wasn't anything special about him that made me happy that I did business with him. Can you catch what I'm trying to say? It's a judgement call and it's up to you. Just be careful. I hope the choice you make is a good one and that everything with the whole experience is positive.

Now, moving on:). You should check out how far you are from Great Lakes Dragaway. It shouldn't be that far from you. I make the drive down there when I can and, like I said, I'm from the West Bend area. And WIDSM is a pretty active chapter from what I've seen. Check out the website..WIDSM.org. People are usually trying to set up meets here and there. Maybe I'll see you at one of them:thumb:. Let me know what you find. I'm on there once in a while, so I don't check it that often....same screen name. Have a good one!

i dont have good suroundings or nice things but i tell the truth and dont have very many nice things because all my $ goes towords my car im going on about 30 grand this incomtax and dont have a job right now dont steal and didint get the money from parrents but from a car accedent and spent it all on my car in hopes of completing it TO FINISH MY DREAM CAR that i wanted the satisfaction of doing my self but almost every dime i get littlerey goes to my car and for some reason it's still not finished. now i look back and wish i would have saved some $ and built it slow. step by step. so now when i put it all together i will need a job for some meets im planing on saving some money up to get a real big meet together im basically the only dsm i know of in wichita ks. SORRY ABOUT THE LIFE STORY JUST TRYING TO Give people more and better opions of OTHER'S. so bascailly dont judge a car of its primer but of the motor. LOL

hey guys this the the talon i am looking at 1992 Eagle Talon...Good Condition i was wondering if the hood looks like its carbon fiber i would ask the seller but his GF is doing all the talk for im so id rather not take it from aher and show up and see that its not LOL although i doubt it is anyway but over all not a bad deal for 500.00 am i right ??

No that doesn't look like CF to me. Looks like a factorty replacement hood that was never painted. For 5 or 600 its still a good deal! I'd buy it even though its auto and FWD.
:p once i get a few hundred more its gonna be a 5 speed though :p but auto for now LOL i was hoping it was carbon fiber ### if u look closely u can see a sorta shine to it but i can be wrong :p only 80k to its gonna be a nice project for the winter/ daily driver i hope LOL it better not be a repeat of my Z that skipped timing a month after i baught it and basically self destruct infront of me that was so painful to watch :*( LOL

LOL no way man. thats just a primer hood like said before. ive sold a couple of cars that way instead of spending the money for paint.

hahah damn that little glare caught my eye for a second and i wuz like could that be :O hahah if it was id be gettin a sweet deal though there liek 300 to 400 alone ahah

I also say that's its not carbon fiber looks like primer.
dosent that little glare make you think it could be though xD oh well ill see when i get it today :D im gonna bring some extra pants just incase it turns out to be a CF in bad shape

Well looking to pick up my third gst LOL. I found a 95 gst 5 speed locally that has a weird history, but I think a pretty fair price. The car has 155k on the chassis, but has a paper from where they had a new motor put in with the mileage on the motor ranging between 42k-45k. Has a cage welded into it, behind the rear seats is gutted out, has 4 holes in rear deck where they had a ricer wing installed, has a big ass tach installed :barf:, some ### shift knob, painted the hood pink and red, is missing a passenger side blinker, has aftermarket tails :barf:. I guess they had a new motor put in due to her husband over revving it at the track. Aso has a big 16g, and what looks to be an apc fart can exhaust, when you look inside the exhaust tip you can def. tell that it shrinks down inside the muffler and the piping underneath the car looks relatively stock, the car also has a 97 front head lights. They still have the 95 headlights and the original spoiler though. They are asking 1750 for the car the gir said she would take 1600 i was think more around 1450. What do you guys think.

oh yea the husband also took a ball pen hammer to the back of the driver side fender, and there is a small rust spot on the rear hatch.

I am in the market for an evo. I test drove one friday night. Heres the 411 on the car. 2005 Evo 8, 47k, 3" exhaust w/ magnaflow muffler, no cat, hks intake kit, hallman boost controller, hks turbo timer, cheap ass xs power manifold and o2 housing.

The bad: carbon fiber on wing is faded, small ding above rear wheel, service engine soon light is on(assuming its the no cat) and there is some sort of vacuum leak. The idle stuck at like 2k a few time I went to stop, and then while it was running on the timer, right before it shut off, the idle shot up again and then it was killed. Any idead on what to look for on the vac leak?

Anyway, I can ###### get it for like 18k out the door, hopefully a bit less, but thats what IM aiming for right now.

What do you guys think?

Anthony

Sounds like it's been beat on quite a bit for an '05 to have problems like that.

I understand what your saying, there is something about driving an evo though. This will be my daily. I dont need another project right now. A mirage would def be another project.

I don't see why you think its been beat on?LOL It has a vac leak of some sort somewhere, Id imagine.

ok im new to dsm and most likey will get into it. i came from honda and moved on because i recked mine..... suks but ok heres what im looking for my friend dale told me to come here and get some opinions on this car im looking at heres the link

Turbo eclipse 4 sale

i just would like to know what your think and what it might mean when they say needs a little tunning up. ive emailed the guy bout the car and he still has not answered me back so im not shore on everything yet. but i would def like to get that car. thnks guys :)

There is no telling all the gremlins that car has. If it looks too good to be true, it is.

Well since it hasn't been drive for a year I would change all the belts especially the timing belt. If you do get it do a boost leak test. If you are going to turn up the boost I would look into some bigger injectors but 440's should be fine to just drive around with. Oh yea check the harmonic balance for cracks in the rubber part. Seems like a good deal though I wonder what he means by minor work?

Well something seems fishy since it has a t3/t4 ( what kind) fmic safc and only 440 ( he probably meant 450cc) injectors. Those are stock. You cant push a turbo like that or any upgrade with 450s. It looks lowered a lot with big wheels. Looks like its for show. I dont know about that. I would ask for reciepts from the motor build. Is there even a boost controller?

I would check it out in person and testdrive it. If it was me personally I would get a car that is stock, so that you can put your own mods on it. Plus you never really know what they did to the car. I would just test drive it first and go from there.
