Hi im about to get a GSX with a 2.3L Stroker Motor and i want to make sure it truely has a 2.3L Stroker in it. What could i look for that could tell me it has one in it in case he dose'nt have the paper work on it and could just say its a 2.3L Stroker to get more $'s for it.

I search eclipse and stroker on youtube and when there running there alot louder then stock motors but is there any thing else i could look for to make sure its a stroke?

The car needs a new transmission on it so im getting a good deal only if its a stroker

Just because its louder does not mean its a stroker could have cams that will change the way the car wounds quite about

Is the trans driveable?

If so, take it for a test drive and note what turbo is on it and exactly what rpm it spools up under WOT in 3rd, then post those results back here. Also note what tuning devices are used and how well the car seems to be tuned. Any stuttering, hesitation, rich smelling exhaust, audible knock, etc.

There is always some variance from engine to engine, but we should be able to make a reasonably accurate guess from the difference in spool times.

If it's not drivable, ask to pull the oil pan and then look for any clearancing done to the block or the main cap bridges. Turn the engine slowly with a breaker bar and make note of how close the rods are to the clearanced areas and which rods are in it. Post your findings.

Yeah its driveable as long as its nothing extreme the front wheels dont work just the backs is only thing that will be working

GSX, and the front wheels dont work? How is this possible.. Not to bash a possible good buy, but why do they not work. broken axles? Bad tranny? I would expect everything to work, or exact details before buying a car. Be careful you don't get yourself into something you weren't expecting. Seems like you would not be able to drive the car properly if the "front" didnt work. If the front axles are not in, there would be tranny fluid all over the place. Get some pictures and post them up if possible.

Thinking of buying a 1995 mitsubishi eclipse gs-t. Here is all the things that have been done to it.

115k on motor
No boost leaks
It has an apexi S-AFC but not hooked up
HKS SSQV BOV
Tsudo N-1 exhaust
New water pump installed 2 days ago

The car will not start if it is cold...ever. It will crank and crank and crank but never come close to firing.
When the motor is warm it fires up no problem.
Car runs rich at idle but runs lean while driving.

What do you guys think the problem is?

Merry Christmas
Thanks

I just moved to a new house and being my nosey self I was peeking through a fence and seen 1g sitting in yard all grown in. House and car look abandoned so I decided to jump the fence and take a look, the car says " all wheel drive " on the quater panal. So heres my ?? is there such a thing as a n/a awd 1g and are any of the ignition parts compatible with my 95 gst?

p.s. Sorry if this post is in the wrong spot.

I don't know..... I'm thinking about buying the car and i just need to know if it is a minor fix or not. I don't want to buy it and it turn out to be something major that's all. He told me that it might need some new fuel injectors.

Probably a FIAV or a bad fuel pressure regulator.

Well for that price I'd prol buy it. If you don't, post up where it is at so I can look at it. :D

that price sounds just about right. One positive about buying it from the dealer, is they got you covered if the car turns out to be a LEMON...for a year or so, if i recall correctly.

If it is warrantied, you have to find a copy of the warranty, and see if modding the car will void the warranty.

JD

good luck

Dealers don't have to warranty a car that old. It would be crazy to expect a dealer to not go broke warrantying 19 year old stuff. Either way, that sounds like way too much money for a 1g. If it is brand new mint condition maybe, but otherwise no way.

This thread is over 5 years old and was bumped by a post that should have been made into it's own .

they might work the guy said the front differential is out so i assume they don't work that's what he said he said they backs will turn and front wont turn by there selfs like if you jack it up on all 4's are off the ground im thinking the backs will only go when in drive. but i could be wrong but im going to go check it out tomorrow

and its a 5 speed if this helps any

And also it posted as the tranny needs replacing i guess that's why its such a good deal or will be after i talk the guy down on it ;) it comes with that motor with only 2k miles on it as well as many other mods and even a FMIC and build head and turbo

Okay... i won't know what's going until tomorrow after i talk to him because he told me he would trailer it half-way for me. The car is in Evansville, Indiana. It needs a paint job and a little bit of body work. The car is primmered right now. I will let you know tomorrow if I'm still going to get it or not. If not i will give you his home phone number.

ok guys so i've read multiple threads and visited countless websites reading the pros and cons of GST's and GSX's but i still cant decide which one to get, i am going to buy either a GST or a GSX this friday no matter what, its part of my new years resolution LOL. anyways i've looked all over the place and i finally found a black GST and a black GSX, i wont go for another color, anyways at first said i was going to go with the GSX no questions asked but i dont know anymore, let me know what you think, here are both the 99 black GST and the 98 black GSX my only two options. they are both asking $5000.

here are the mods the 99 GST has...

-Greddy Turbo Timer
-Greddy 3 Inch Exhaust
-Greddy Hard Pipe Kit
-Manuel Boost Controller
-Big Side Mount Intercooler
-Short Throw Shifter
-ACT Street Clutch
-Aftermarket Headlights
-255 Walbro Fuel Pump
-2 Inch Springs
-Big Blow Off Valve
-Eclipse Brand Cd/Mp3 Player
-Stainless Steel Interior Trim
-Autometer Boost & Air/Fuel Gauges

other
-New Throw Out Bearing

-New Radiator
-87,000 Miles:thumb:
-Power Windows

-Removed Cruise Control
-Speedo Sensor Is Down

the 98 GSX has...
ACT lightweight flywheel
ACT 2600 clutch
Injen Intake
boost control
prosport boost gauge and air/fuel/volt gauge
custom exhaust and downpipe
infinity speakers and alpine head unit.
grey leather interior
124,000 miles:notgood:

the cars look identical from the outside just the GST has the RS wheels and the GSX has the GSX wheels.

i've never bought a car with over 75k miles on it, my driving style would be just to school, work, maybe a 2 hour drive here and there and some highway and stoplight fun but i dont see myself doing to much work on the cars as i only have 6000 to work with. anyways any help is appreciated, i want to make my decision the right one and not regret it later on. oh yeah i live in WI if thats any help.

i've attached some pics of the GST but not the GSX because they are too small to tell, just imagine the GST with the GSX wheels and grey leather interior haha, the tail light setup is the same on both kinda weird.

I'd go for the GSX, you won't regret the AWD.
When I look for a car, the longer the mods list, the more it seems like it was beat on, so for the GST, that's a big turn off.
Either way, replace the Timing belt on it, 120k miles is the time it should be done [Correct me if I'm wrong]
Great choice with the black, I'm kinda jealous you've found good deals!

Also, I'm from Wisconsin too, it's good to see a local on here :)

hehe a car from Kentucky. I would go with the GSX I had the FWD and and the AWD swap is a PITA. I love me some AWD launches. Burnouts seem cool at first but they get old. AWD all the way.
