I tried to be rational about it; I bought a FWD turbo before I jumped in head-long. Right now, with the snow, I'm wishing I jumped in, head-long. But I'm thinking if I put the old tires from my 2.0 NT onto my GST, it should hadle in the snow like my old 2.0NT did. After all, it's the exact same chassis, and those $750 worth of tires aren't doing anything sitting under my deck. I digress.

You'll figure out the turbo plumbing real quick. It'll take your mind for a spin. Have fun with all your drive-shafts and new-found suspension bushings, and have fun un-modifying.
 
Justin, you missed the upper timing belt cover and the heat shield for the exhaust manifold.
Yeah, but I figured the car would run without those. The severely-crushed 1G BOV and missing manifold studs would cause driveability issues for sure.


Lofty, are you sure the car has a 16G? The factory 14B's look the same from the outside. Pull the intake and post a pic. :thumb:

Don't worry, they got me, too. I never actually believed the guy who sold it to me, but he said my car had a "Hybrid 16G/Evo" turbo on it. I finally figured it out: The polished compressor housing is off an Ebay Chinese 16G. Otherwise, it's just another worn-out, smokey old 14b. I think everyone's 1st boosted DSM comes with an alleged 16G.
 
My last car was and probably will be more unreliable than this. Seriously.

I'm so happy the Pretty NT is gone.

And yeah, Tim, I am posting this everywhere... (Well only two forums :) ) Because I need to rub this car in the faces of the people who made fun of me for being NT.

That's fine if you consider "stock" to be "running perfect".

Not sure as of yet. I will get the comp check done in a few days. I'm kinda scared.
Why be scared? If it runs and runs fine without a dead miss, it has compression. It may be low, but it has compression.

My FWD had 90psi across the deck because leaky exhaust valve seals allowed oil to run down the stem of the valve and burn to the valve seat. Car started and ran perfectly. It was lazy off-boost, but once you were on boost it felt fine.

Finally got a turbo dsm and he's venting already.

might of came like that you can't dogg him for last owners mistake give him some to fix up all the problem first .... I think it looks like a real decent 1g good luck with it and welcome to the turbo side of the DSM world

I'm sure he did buy it like that, and I'm sure he'll get it up and going, or at least try his best. BTW how's the toyota going lofty?
 
Lofty I got a stock 1g BOV laying in the back of the ole ladies car when I sold mine I forgot to give it to him.

If you want it, It's yours.
