I have seen a lot of your videos and I can't help but love your car since mine is the same year and color. It also helps a little that it is fast as hell! My favorite video is the one of you beating on the supercharged Z06. Congrats on the new #'s can't wait to see what happens when you can launch really good :thumb:

The fact that you can drive it to and from the drag strip, have no head work, and streetable camshafts is amazing! Congrat's dude!

$16 a gallon?! I'd switch to alcohol and go a little slower :D

Switching over to Alcohol will do everything but make someone slower!! When a DSM switches from gas to alky with the kind of boost that a few of us are running the motor will make alot more power and no longer need an IC.

There are a somany things I can say about alcohol but I have to get back to work. :D

You run over 40psi on straight meth?

Please tell more!

The nitrous is only on for .3 tenths of a second in each gear, the nitrous shuts off at 33lbs. Infact when I bang 4th gear it doesn't even come on the turbo is that responsive between the 3/4 shift.;)

The turbo is ball bearing ? Congrats for you new personal best, you are an inspiration for a lot of us. You need to come to Puerto Rico some time!! I would like to see the car in person:thumb:

Did you say 9000 to 9800 rpm on Crower springs and retainers? My Crower springs and retainers floated the FIRST TIME I took it to 9000. Quite disappointing since my stock springs and retainers were flawless up to 8500 on countless pulls. I've since had ffwd mad springs without issue. Maybe my Crowers were just a bad batch, hopefully I didn't just jinx yours.

the first race against the chevy doing a wheel stand was the sickest video ever. I cant belive you are doing this with a stock head and 272s. What type of headgasket are you using? How do you keep it sealed at 40lbs, o-ring? Good luck Jake:thumb:

If you just threw the valve springs in without setting the spring height then thats why. I have my shimed up. Spring height is the key. Mine is setup at 1.52" spring height. I've been spining the motor up past 9000rpm for 3 years now and no problems.

And nc90awd, no o-rings. Using the new felpro MLS head gasket, spendy gasket at $200 a pop.

I plan on getting crower springs and 280s soon. Do I need to shim my springs?

I'm running the Brian Crower 288's with the Crower spring kit and stock locaters. I have no valve float issues reving past 8800RPM. I'm planing on taking it higher this year but not with out looking at my open seat pressure and if I can shim them up without coil binde.

Please keep in mind that valve float has a whole lot more to do with the cam profile than with the springs. You can raise the float rpm with more spring force and compare those within a cam grind, but you absolutely CANNOT compare float rpm's between two cam profiles and blame the springs. I've conclusively tested (with high speed video) valve float on the same spring and installed force but with different cam profiles changing from 9500rpm to past 12.5k.

And before somebody asks, no, I don't know anything about float rpm's on the Crower or Brian Crower cams. Ask them, they should have an estimate at least.

Kevin

I have spun to 9750 without problems on crowers springs/retainers with no shims for a long time now. But like Kevin said cam differences change the equation.

just watched the video after it took an hour to download (thats dediction LOL) def. can see the bogging, hope it all works out for ya!
