If someone was to ask me what the difference between a 6 bolt and a 7 bolt, what should I say to them. I think I have an idea but Im not sure.
I know this question has been asked a million times but I'm asking one more time.

You should tell them to use the search feature on Dsmtuners.com.

You know if your not going to help, why even post. As a wiseman youd think you would know this.

uuhhhmm, one has 6 bolts to the flywheel and the other seven
six bolt has 0 to no crankwalk issue
six bolt has bigger throttle body and larger manifold runner thingys
7bolt has larger exhaust manifold and crappy T25 turbo

stuff like that.

You didnt answer my question though. I want to be able to describe exactly what it means by 7 bolt and 6 bolt. For instance what are the bolts that I'm talking about. Stuff like that.
Im still very new but Im trying to learn, so thanks for any help.

So its just how many bolts are on the flywheel?

Its all about the flywheel bolts plus lower compression for the 6 bolts 7:5:1

Since Im about to buy a new 6 bolt, do I need to sell my lightweight flywheel that I literally just bought. If I do, do I have to buy a new act2600 as well.

Because I hate lazy ass people that can't use the brain God gave them. Get off your ass and search, you would've had the answer by now.

6 bolt head has much larger runners on the intake side of the head vs a 7 bolt head.

hold back, hold back from adding a useless negative post. Going against all rules...dont post if you cant help...cant hold back... ehh.

I just got really frustrated when the poster insulted the wiseman, i was like, WHAT??? you'd think by all the huge red warnings that say use the search feature that HE would know to use it by now. (theres even red warnings telling me not to do this) If he had searched the forums with simply "6 bolt 7 bolt differences" all his problems would be solved. Instead he decides to post, then wait for answers, then insult a wiseman of all people. then be insulted and lose respect from this sites users.

well, i'll slap my wrist and never do this again.

HaveSomeJoe are really that in love with GVR4592? You suck his dick to? Play with his balls?
What makes you think I give a flying fu(k what the majority of the people on this website think about me. The only reason I come onto this site is to figure shit out about my car, thats it. If all of you hate me, so what! I'll still come on here cause as long I have a dsm I'm going to need to know whats wrong with it.
He is no better then me just because he knows more about dsms. So if he wants to be a smart ass then I will respond how I see fit.

I only know what I learned through experience and from searching. You can go back through my whole posting history and you won't be able to count the number of times I've started a thread and asked a question, on more than one hand. Most of those questions were just asking people's opinions on specific products. I started in the same place as everybody else, the big difference is I read EVERYTHING I can find on a subject before I ask a question. 99.9% of the time I find the answer on my own so I don't have to ask. It's faster, more efficient, and a lot easier to sort out the bullshit. If you go by what people are telling you in this thread, you're going to walk away with the wrong information. If you would do the research on your own, there's a really good chance you'll come away with the right information.

If you have a 6 bolt engine and 7 bolt flywheel, they aren't compatible. The ACT 2600 will work with both engines.

Psychowhatnot this is not a play ground everything the wiseman said is true, you need to search before you ask a question. The question you asked is a no brainer if you went down to where they show car descriptions it would have told you. Now as for your remarks to the wiseman thats just plain disrespectful, if i were you i would hope he didn't take it to heart because when it comes to dsm's they take you to places you've never been. Wiseman help you do what only a tuning shop can and save you money, i personally hang on wisemens balls because things don't happen they way the manual says it does and you need someone to guide you through when you run across issues that are way beyond you and your mechanics comprehension. In other words respect your intellectual elders and say hi to DEFIANT for me:thumb:

6bolt engines have 7.8:1 cr stock
7bolt engines have 8.5:1 cr stock

ALL 1G motors (both 6 bolt and 7 bolt) have 7.8:1 compression.;)

Just to clarify for the OP:

The 1G cars can be broken down into those with 6 bolt motors and those with 7 bolt motors.

Cars made between 1990 and mid 1992 had the 6 bolt flywheel.

1G cars made between mid 1992 and 1994 had the 7 bolt flywheel.

Other features which change with the 7 bolt motors are (these are unique only to the 6 bolt motors):
-Larger, stronger rods
-Larger bearing journals
-Stronger crankshaft
-Heavier flywheel compared to 7 bolt flywheel
-Generally accepted that the stock 6 bolt bottom end can handle the most boost before internal upgrades are needed

All 1G cars (both 6 bolt and 7 bolt) had larger intake ports in the cylinder head and better lubrication.
Crankwalk unlikely in all 1G motors, particularly the 6 bolt motors.

Of course there are other differences but these are the most noteworthy. If anyone sees any inaccuracies in this please jump in and correct me.:)

The majority of the people on here is where you get your answer from......thats why you should care. Without us, you wouldn't have a clue (not that you have one anyway). We already have enough assholes making rediculous post....we don't need another.

That's good!

Why is this thread not locked?

OP: You're just digging the hole deeper.

Everyone else: Telling the OP to search and then engaging in a flame war just keeps the post alive for generous folks to respond to, which gives the OP some of his answers anyway. OP should apologize and learn from this mistake, and others should keep this sort of post from living this long.

Why am I responding? Doh!

Just to add to that:
Also, there are main girdle differences:

The 6-bolt 4g63t has "3" separate caps -5 total, with the outer 2 tied to the inner 2

The 7-bolt 4g63t has a 1 piece girdle that actually anchors all 5 caps together

Usually i would search but since you started it, explain these caps:)
