The best Pump Gas "Turbo" set up? [Merged 5-7]

I heard a few times that the hot side on a 60-1 is just too big for pump is that true? What's the best 50trim for my application? I honestly probably will never run race gas in the car so if it's a matter of spending more money on a turbo that will do well on race gas or saving money and getting one that does just as well on pump but not as well on race gas then I'll definitely be saving money.

low 11's on pump gas is hard as shit. I'm currently at 11.50 right now, on an FP Green. I'll be tickled pink if I can just sniff 11.39. ANYTHING in the 11's on pump gas is an accomplishment.

Hopefully a full Garret AGP kit will let me get there that's what I think I'm going to get. If I do or don't break into the low 11's i'm probably going to throw on a 75shot because it'll either put me from the low 11's into the 10's or from the high 11's into the lows

There is a garret GT35R that is supose to be good for pump gas. AMS has it on there EVO 8 and say that they made 551whp on pump. I have been trying to find out more details on this turbo though.

So is the GT35R not a good pump gas turbo then? I wasn't to sure if that was on pump or race gas, there add was misleading.

Yeah that was on race gas... It's not quite ideal for pump gas the 50trim Garrets are pretty much the pump gas kings I guess.

I made 333 on my latest trip to the dyno on my Green @19 or so psi with crappy timing ..16 deg peak, plus I had a dip ..(possibly misfire, but not really sure) around 4800 for some reason. Anyhow, I think it would have made around 350 if not for that as it was making 300 @around 4650. It fell to around 220 and then had to work its way back up. In the end, the end result was about the same, but I did pick up some torque. Once I get some timing thrown at it, I think I can make atleast 370 on pump with the same boost levels. On a bright note, I was able to get my spool time dramitically increased by messing with the fuel settings. Top end was really rich 10.5:1 and I didn't have enough time to mess with the settings to lean it out enough.

That's not bad at all but it's a little short of where I'd like to be so I don't think the Green will be quite enough turbo for me. Really nice numbers on that tune though man I'm sure you'll get close to 370 or so which is quite nice!

*edit* Noslo props on the 11.5 on pump gas man!

I'm running a 50trim and am very happy with this pump gas performance. The 60-1 will be ok as long as you get it with a T3 exhaust housing. They are available like that with .63 A/r stage 3 wheels just like most people order their 50trim or other T3/T4 style turbo.

I pulled 12.5 last year in a full weight talon with little tuning running a 10.1-11.1:1 AFR which is way rich. This year again on pump gas with an AEM ems and speed density conversion I wanna see some better numbers, hopefully high 11's on pump. We'll see though.

Jim,

Have you dyno'd yours yet? We have pretty similiar setups except that I have cam's and you have a Magnus Intake. 400 to the wheels on a street driven pumpgas daily driver isn't an easy accomplishment.

What kind of fuel management are you guys runnin. I see some stand alone, some eco reflash, what kind of success or problems are you guys havin with these systems on the big boost applications?

I'm running MAFT, 660's, TMO stg. 3, AFC. Running about 410whp on 93 octane, 25psi. Anything bigger than 660's with a MAFT, you will have problems. The MAFT removes so much of teh airflow signal at 660cc and above setting, that the car has too much timing advance. The car will stumble at low/part throttle. I had to turn the base setting back to 600cc. I then 0'd out the MAFT, then used the AFC to tune. In 4th gear, I've damn near got my AFC at 0 across the board.
