The best Pump Gas "Turbo" set up? [Merged 5-7]

This site may earn a commission from merchant affiliate links, including eBay, Amazon, and others.

Saw a few folks earlier in this thread going with the RnR setup. Maybe they will post some pics.. anyone?

TWITCH.. IMHO you should be spending your current $ on mods to support a larger turbo then save up and get one later on.. not the other way around. Sure you can run it on low boost.. but you can do that with the turbo you have and prol be at the same efficiency level.

They aren't going to sell out so don't be in such a rush to get one.

Anyone have either the RNR kits or the AGP kits with 50 trim yet that can comment?

GSX (pete) and I both have AGP t3/t4 50 trim kits. I have a .63 housing, he has a .48 housing. Both of us have ran 11s on them with bad clutches. Both are extremely happy with the kits. He gets full boost around 3600, I get full boost around 3900.

That's what i paid for mine, and i absolutely love it. I will admit it spools in my opinion to rapidly but i guess that's not the worst problem to have:p If i told you what my fuel correction were at 3k-4.5K you would think i have lost my mind. It moves a lot of air very quicklyOMG

what else do you need with the $775 turbo? It will bolt up to my ported 02 housing and manifold and 3"downpipe right? I just need what oil lines etc?

Well just to follow up on this thread since it's been around for a while. I have my 50Trim, Turbonetics manifold, tial 35mm plus support mods setup on my car now and had it tuned just this week. The power is great even at 15psi is really pulls hard and at 20psi it's a pump gas rocket.

I totally recommend this turbo to anybody who wants to go fast on pump gas.

So far, my Green has gotten me into the lo 12's (12.21@112) on 93 octane, full weight 1G, and still has more to go. I don't regret buying it one bit. Oh yeah, full boost by 3700rpm

That's awesome #'s on pump gas. What boost level do you run on the green with pump gas? I plan on swapping out my FP ported Big28 with an internally gated green in a few months. I think the FP green has been well proven over time. It's a great street/strip turbo IMHO.

OK guys got some big new for you. We went to the dyno today and one of our customers ran his car. Here is his set up
97 GSX
RnR 50 trim turbo kit, equal length manifold
RnR street FMIC
660's
stock motor with low compression in 2 cylinders
2.5" downpipe!
3" Cat!
basic supporting mods

We only have 91 octane so he added a gallon of 100 octane to bring it right up to 93-94 octane pump gas you east coast guys can get.

First run no tuning 385whp

We were pretty excited about this considering he still has a cat, 2.5"downpipe and no tuning.

He did three runs and on the 3rd run it was 394whp and 357tq.
We only did a total of 3 runs because it was a dyno day and a long list of cars.
The owner and bascially everybody around was pretty excited considering it made that power so easily.

With one of our true 3" downpipes, 3" test pipe, tuning and real gas we are expecting somewhere around 450whp.

This is all from our basic street bolt-on parts and no tuning.

Right now, I think I have a pretty big boost leak. My Hz count is pretty high at 2800. I'm only running 23psi now, as I can't seem to make any more power at the moment on that #. Considering I ran the same MPH at only 22psi before I swapped the MAFT in. I need to fab up a better intake system to get some colder air into the motor.

Once I fab up the intake and find/fix any boost leaks, I fully expect to pick up another 3-4mph.

Am I at the correct site?

I don't even see a turbo listed for "Sport Compact."

Wow, that is very exciting. What kind of cams was he running:confused: . I cant believe he put down those kind of number with no tuning. Thats a great setup you guys have.:thumb:

edit: What boost were you running on the dyno.

He was running some 272's I believe. Ya, it was pretty exciting and we are hoping for some real big numbers coming pretty soon.

I am totally sold on that rnr 50 trim kit! 385whp on pump gas with no tuning, that is amazing! I can't wait untill next spring when i can afford it. Ofcourse i do have a credit card, so if i keep reading posts like this i might just order it sooner...:thumb:

Just get it you could be dead by then! :D

Weird. That page wasn't there yesterday. How did you get the "SCM" version for $775? I only see the "SC" versions at that price. I'm confused.

First sorry about the name this is my friends account I'm using to browse.

I'm looking for the best turbo for 93octane pump gas. I'm not very worried about race gas I don't care much for it I'd rather do everything on pump. I've been researching many different turbo's and I've become nothing but less and less sure what would give the most power on 93 pump gas. I don't care if I need a new manifold and such that can be taken care of. I'm absolutely determined to break into the low 11's on pump and I'll buy whatever injectors and spend countless hours tuning if that's what is required to do it.

(I have a 1991GSX with a Buschur B16G and tons of other mods)
