The best Pump Gas "Turbo" set up? [Merged 5-7]

This site may earn a commission from merchant affiliate links, including eBay, Amazon, and others.

I think I understood what you said. If you have an RnR 02 elim downpipe we can modify it to fit the Garrett turbo.

We can also make the wastegate route back into your 02 housing. SO yes you could leave your current exhaust in place. These are both options for our kits. Email me if you any questions on prices, etc.

For RNR: I have a daily driven street car, have you guys ever had problems with the headers with that kit cracking?

I am really sold on that kit. I will have to decide if i want an external gate (you guys) or an internal gate w/ stock exhaust manifold (another place)

We haven't had any cracking so far because of the material we use and the way we build them. We do offer a 3 year warranty with the SS header.

TD06 compressor / Mitsu 7cm Turbine

Correct:
Modified TDO6 Compressor housing/ 7 or 8 cm turbine housing
50 trim/ TDO6H clipped or not

The L2 is $1100, not $950.

I'm dahm sure that they are using MHI 7cm, not PTE's copy of a 7cm.

Once again, Green td06 compressore housing, not tdo5. tdo5 is 16g. You are also forgetting something very important. Exhaust wheel, the tdo6h wheel will outflow the "stage 3" wheel. Mitsu turbine wheel in a mitsu turbine housing, they are made to fit mitsu housing, meaning better performance because it. The tdo6h wheel has made nasty HP #'s in a 7cm, the red which is a different turbo all together has laid over 500whp on a 6h/7cm combo.

You cant go wrong w/the AGP garret kit, its idiot proof. You'll get everything you need and will go real fast on shitty gas. 50trims rock.

The PTE's look very promising. Bolt on units that are under $1,000.

Just make sure you have the supporting mods before getting a big turbo.

First off if you notice I did not list the options for any of the turbos. I listed what most of these turbos actually sell at. The only thing I missed about the Green was the turbine wheel which if you notice I said "not sure". Where I listed it as a TD05 was a typo since I obviously had it right at the above instance.

In regards to AGP not using the PTE housings, that you are so sure of that. I suggest you call AGP and ask them and then Ill accept your apology for being a dick. And once again double check their page, the special for the L2 right now is 950 not 1100. I've done alot of research on the 50trim turbos over the last month and I think I summed it up pretty well in this post.

Also SBR, I apologize for assuming you were using the PTE housings as well. I figured all the companies would switch to the PTE housing for the Garret wheels since they are cheaper and an effective design. My apology for the assumption.

LarryD:
I was off on the pricing of the L2, but not its housing.

Directly off agpturbo
L2 Conventional Bushing direct fit for the DSMs. This turbo has the 50 trim T04E compressor wheel in a 3" inlet 2" outlet T04E compressor housing. This ultra efficient compressor side is teamed up with the 76 trim Stage 3 T3 turbine wheel in a 7cm MHI turbine housing. This turbo will bolt up to your stock manifold and O2 housing.

Now will you accept my dickness:D

and as I said before, feel free to call AGP and ask Kevin or Ben what turbine housings they will be using to make their L2s for now on. I already have, hence the reason I know its the PTE housing. I know in the past they used the Mitsu 7cm but that was before PTE released their new housing to be sold.

The 50 trim really is the king of pump gas. Dre just dyno'd at 432 whp on his green! I have a PTE 50 trim on order with the new exhaust housing. A sweet deal for $995 with internal gate. There are also benefits to the full garret systems. For my situation the PTE is the best since I already have an O2 eliminator DP. The RnR seems like a good setup, but I would option up to the newer 4 bolt garrett exhaust housing.

Larry,

No problem at all......... I would not assume casting your own housing is a real cheap proposition however... We have been waiting almost 8 months for ours....... Here is the prototype... the rest should be done by March 1st!

Just wanted to clarify the DSMotorsports kit, it uses a turbonetics turbo, not a full Garrett.

Are you sure about that? I thought the Diamond Star Motorsports kit was full garret with just a Turbonetics manifold.

I know they also sell Turbonetics turbos but I thought their full t3/t4 kit was a full garret kit.

Yeah mate, i have the kit here in Australia. here's the pictures to prove it.

If you look at this page on Nate's site you will see nothing there but pictures of turbonetics turbo's - http://www.diamondstarmotorsport.com/garretparts.shtml

yes it's labelled Garrett up the top of the page, but the manifold and the turbo are both labelled "Turbonetics". as you allready know, they are interchangeable between garrett and turbonetics, so i'm assuming that's why the page says garrett. The standard bearing turbonetics turbo's don't have any issues here in Australia, only the ball bearing items. from what i read on here, that's the case in the usa also.

well i bought the DSMotorsports kit and found that my hood didnt close LOL, can one of you guys give me a link to the part i need to move the WG down?? thanks

What exactly is the difference between the turbonetics and full garret tubos?

All i can say is wow...

This post has been so helpfull... i've been trying to find the perfect pumpgas combo for a while now... and this looks to be awesome.

Since AGP lowerd the price on the L2.. i was seriously considering that... but now that i realize, i'd beed a new manifold and o2 housing anyways (i sold my 3" o2 eliminator) the "everything included" AGP/RNR deal looks great.

The only thing that shy's me away from RNR's kit is the Manifold is made from 304SS.....

But obviously both these kits are new... so i'll be looking for feedback from the future owners of these kits, seeing as how i wont have the money for one for at least another 6-7 months (Just bought a rebuilt '91 tranny, and all the things that go with it... then i'm picking up a 2600lb clutch.... $$$$ Not to mention i just bought a daily driver)

:D Keep it up guys... this is the reason i changed my mind from keeping this car stock and just driving it around trying to afford a Z28...

I figured that this post would be helpful. I searched and searched for some post simliar to one like this. Couldnt find one so i decided to post it up. I know alot of people have similar goals as to mine. Not everyone wants to always run on c16. Due to larrys reasearch and all the helpful information i have decided what my turbo setup is going to be.

This post has been pretty good. I just finished ordering a turbonetics manifold, 50trim t3/t4 .63 stage 3 from turbonetics and a 2-216 spearco for my car. I'll be using a tial 35mm gate re-routed back into my downpipe to keep the noise down.

I plan on running tops 21-22 psi on this setup, probablly closer to 20 and if it creeps 1 or 2 psi then no big deal. More likely 15 day to day with 20psi on hand when I wanna get stupid. (gotta love electronic boost controllers..) My only fuel mods are AFC, 255, 550cc and afpr so I'm hoping with that to get around 350 wheel. If it's less that's ok too...

Glad to see somebody made this thread as i'm sure it will benefit many in the future...
