1G TCU Repair Service

I just ran across a TCU repair service specifically for the 1g cars so I thought I should make it known. It is a small family company called Foreign Auto Computer Repair. They have a very small pictorial of some bad signs to look for in your TCU so you can try to tell if it is repairable or not.
The link to them is HERE. I have not used their service but have never seen a company dedicated to our Transmission Control Units before.
I hope this helps out those that are needing to get out of "Limp Mode"!!!

Thanks, I had not seen that company before and we get members who need TCU service like they do ECU service (and ECMTuning gets all of my business for that) so at least we have a service that can do our community a lot of good if the computers are not too eaten up.

I hope they do a better job than they used to.

The most common TCU fault is the 47uf capacitor in the power supply leaking and shorting out the voltage regulator dumping 12v onto the 5v bus and causing the damage they show in their examples. As they note, this can also happen to the two other smaller IC's (EPROM Port expander and interface logic) as wells as the CPU chips they show.

If you guys are willing to pay $250 for repairs and $35 to assess if something can be repaired maybe I'll start doing it again.

Our search isn't great, so just a thought to make it more accessible???

Bud, you too and I will see if this seems to be better suited in a different place but the tech articles are just for tech. I will look around and see what better options we have for placement.
