If I replace my stock t25 with a t28 do I need some type of fuel management?

My 1995 Tsi is completely stock but the t25 is going out and I can get a t28 for $200 so I'm wondering if I should put on a t28.

you should be fine with the stock injectors but the fuel pumps are pretty weak so you might want to get yourself a walbro190 or 225.

i'm planning to only run about 14-15 lbs of boost and no higher so will i still need a walbro 190 or am i good with the stock fuel pump and also will a i need a SAFC or something like that if i just run 13-15lbs of boost on the t28? or does anyone know where i can get a good deal on another t25?

p.s. i am trying to keep this car relatively stock becuase i am giving it to my girlfriend soon. so im just wondering about the t28 since its a stock swap

I have a fp big T28 with all supporting mods. I'm running a aeromotive afpr. 550cc injectors, 255lph hi pressure fuel pump. Hahn Racecraft big smic with all hard pipes. The last thing I did was upgrade to the big T28. Fully ported. The car always stumbled around 12 psi after that. Turns out I was over running the stock MAF. I was pulling more air than the stock maf would be able to read so it'd stop compensating plateau out and hit fuel cut. To fix I ordered a EPROM ecu and keydriver stage 3 chip.
$200 is a good price for t28

I got Big16G, Doesn't accellerate to well.. I think I need a Fuel pump which is on the way.. We'll see if that fixes my problem.. car is mostly stock other than that

Your good with what they said about the 190 and you can also do a rewireing for the pump. Afc is good along with that, try getting a 16g though if you want something a little better

My fp bigT28 flows exactly the same as a evo 3 16G. There's very little difference between a big T28 and a 16G. I agree with rewired 190 LPG fuel pump would be adaquate for T28. And you wouldn't need a afpr if you stayed with rewired 190lph pump. Stock fuel pump won't hack it. Stock fuel injectors will at 14 psi. Maf won't like it. Maybe my car was just being a bi***. Throw a bigger fuel pump on it and the t28 and see how it runs

I have a t25 with 60,000 miles on it, no shaft play at all except for oil play...I'm in canada tho so I doubt it would be worth to ship it to you, you might as well go with the t-28 or even pick up a used 16G

Got a couple questions. You said car was bone stock. Does it have upgraded bov? Boost controller? If not it pointless to upgrade turbo. I'm not a big fan of slapping a bigger turbo on a stock system. Kinda useless in many ways. You'd get better results by doing first steps of supporting mods than you would putting t28 on it. Keep in mind there are two different t28s. The early generation which is just called a t28 or the BigT28. So if it's a t28 it might be pretty old. $200 for an old worn out turbo isn't doing anyone any favors. For whatever reason these BigT28s have a fairly high resale value. Most of the time I see BigT28s listed for sale used on dsmtuners for $500. So if it's a big T28 in good working condition it's cheap. Fp offers their BigT28s for around a grand new. I think mine fully ported lists for $1080 new. If you can get your hands on that t28 check for shaft play in and out and back and forth. If the shaft play is minimal and spins freely then it might be ok. You can make a bone stock Dsm quite a bit faster by doing free mods, upgrading bov, adding a boost controller and hard ic pipes without going thru the hassle of turbo swap. I say that because you might be very surprised what you find when you take the stock turbo off. I had one broken exhaust manifold stud, a broken exhaust manifold to turbo stud and found out I had four or five huge cracks on the underside of the stock cast exhaust manifold. I'm surprised the turbo didn't drop off

I have an evo 8 pump that I can hook you up with, PM me about that. You can find them here in the classifieds, evolutionm.net or ebay. He is upgrading now because his stock t25 is dead and why not upgrade while you're at it?

OP, you will be fine with the stock fuel system and no tuning apparatus up to around 12-13psi. Anything past that and you need to get something to at least log whats going on, and past that you need to add fuel to acommodate the additional air.

umm, why are you running 550's with NO tuning apparatus? Youre stumbling because your ecu cannot control 550's not because you are getting MAF overrun.

To the OP, you can bolt up the T28 but I would not run more boost than stock. You'll be fine running stock boost with a T28. Do that until you can get all the supporting mods. If you just turn up the boost, you risk running lean and blowing the engine. Every car reacts differently to mods. Some people turn up the boost on a stock fuel system and run 17psi without a problem. Other people turn up the boost to 15psi, run lean and by-by engine. So, just leave the boost alone until you can monitor the engine with a datalogger and wideband.

to the OP, if the car is going to your girlfriend and its just going to remain stock, then i would find a used ( in good working order ) t25 for 110$ and swap it out,, it will save you money and it will work great because the cars set up for it. now if your gf wants to go faster then 200 for a t28s a great deal,, but if your just going to throw the t28 in and run stock boost and shes just going to dd it with no plans on going faster, then its going to actually rob the performance from the car,, the t28 is bigger and thus takes more time to spool up so theres going to be more lag and i dont know if im correct on this one, some one please correct me if im not , but since its a different turbo ( size wise ) your fuel ratios are gonna be thrown off and your ecu will be compensating quiet a bit,, i think youll run richer because the o2 will be seeing different exhuast densities..

Will a garrat ball bearing t28 from a nissan 240sx sr20det black top. Fit on a 2g talon tsi? Are the flanges the same?

A bigger turbo isn't that big of an upgrade if you have no way to tune for it, as you'll just hit fuel cut easier. However, since the t25 is so ridiculously tiny you'll probably notice a fairly decent difference, just nothing like you would if you could actually turn the boost up and make the most of it.

I know this and it's true but the main reason I want to put this bigger Turbo is because my t25 is going out. So if I put the t28 on now and keep the boost low then later once I get support mmods I'll be set for more power.
