hey so i have a big t28 and am having some problems. i have it set on the lowest boost setting but it still sometimes peaks at 19 psi, and i hit fuel cut like crazy. i also think i have a few leaks a have to take care of too. so im gonna get a 190 fuelpump and im thinking of either 650 or 550 injectors. i want to max out this turbo. which size should i go with? if i go with 550's will i need a safc?? after that is a front mount the next mod to get? or i was thinking a nice pair of cams. which would give me the most power for now? eventually ill have both. thanks alot for all the help

Why did you go t28 ? Should have gone big16g for the same price. Anywho, if you want to max it out, a set of 550's and a 190 should be suffice. Upgrade your spark plug wires to thicker 8.5mm or bigger for optimum spark and a set of ngk bpr7's. Get an safc or safc2 to tune it and you should be good to go. A fmic would help while you're at it to lower the temps and help out. As for the cams, that won't be necessary for now, the stockers would be just fine.

See my profile for what it takes to max a T28. I'd buy DSMlink first, then install 650cc injectors at a minimum & then the 190 fuel pump.

I have an FP BIG-28 (basically a T-28) on my car as well. When I had the stock BCS (no MBC) I would spike to 19psi too. I don't think its too abnormal. I, however, didn't hit fuel cut when this happened so I'm guessing your boost leaks are to blame. Do a boost leak test asap!

The beautiful thing about this turbo isn't only the ease of installation, but also how cheap the supporting mods are. In a nutshell, upgrade to an EVO VIII/IX fuel system. Both the EVO injectors and fuel pump are direct replacements for your stock units and can be had dirt cheap. The stock EVO 560cc injectors are more than sufficient for a T-28 and the stock EVO IX fuel pump flows similar to a Walbro 190 while being much quieter. This is the route I went when I upgraded my fuel system and it's working well. I'd definitely recommend it to anyone running a T-28. Oh, and yes, you will need an SAFC and a logger for the EVO injectors. Any increase in injectors size (no matter how small) will require some method to control them.

After you've upgraded your fuel system, look to change out your stock intercooler next. Honestly, a FMIC isn't completely necessary with a T-28. It's quite possible to max out the T-28 with just an upgraded sidemount such as the Hahn Racecraft or Dejon Powerhouse units. Even better, the stock MKIV Supra sidemount can be had for cheap.. that way you can keep with the whole "T-28 supporting mods on a budget" theme. ;)

I personally went with a FMIC on my car, but only because I have a feeling I'll be going with a bigger turbo down the road. If you don't see yourself going bigger later, a SMIC will be sufficient for your needs.

Define Max Out.

Im not 100% Sure what T28 you are all talking about.

FPBigT28?

FP took this into the 11.8x and this turbo has been dynoed at 450whp.

If you really want to max this turbo out things like FMIC bigger then 550cc injectors and DSMLink are a definate.

a.f.p.r.! fuel pump is mandatory and a fuel pump rewire if you are going with a 190 lph fuel pump or the equivalent would be very beneficial.
I ran into constant stuttering/fuel cut when I upgraded to the FP Big T28 (fully ported). Things got better when I upgraded to a Hahn SMIC with all hard pipes. I did find that 17psi on the stock smic would superheat enough to fry eggs on it. How are you setting your psi of boost? If you are having trouble running 19psi of boost adjust your system so you aren't running 19psi. Did your Big T28 come with the 17psi adjustable wastegate? I have never had any issues with my Big T28 boost creeping. If I disconnect/turn off my Blitz digital boost controller the wastegate opens at 12-13 psi. Personally I am also running with the devil (without any fuel/ engine management system you are) and find that the 550 aren't cutting it. 550s should do it with Dsmlink etc.

You won't be maxxing out anything with an SAFC, 550 injectors, stock cams, upgraded sidemount. An 11.8 maybe but not likely on the above mentioned mods, 450 w.h.p. not happening on gasoline and 8.5 compression.

This thread was kind of amusing, I'm glad I don't get my tuning advice from these forums. Only good thing I heard was the fuel pump rewire.
