T25 Shaft Play Video, Too Much?

Planing on taking out the 18g turbo as i took out the neo and evo injectors to sell to fund for link and there is just no point to have the extra lag to be hitting stock boost.

Replacement turbo t25 which has some shaft play which im a bit concerned about. I know a little is acceptable as long as no in and out play is there. But the thing is i dont know how little is little when it comes to shaft play so you guys decide. Also to add, i could hear the shaft clicking or taping while moving side to side. Thanks.

How long has the turbo been unused. Without any oil in the journals it will move more than with oil.

It doesn't look to bad that you couldn't use it. Do you see any traces of oil around the turbine or excessive smog?

I personally rebuild any of my used turbo's simply for my own peace of mind knowing it's back to a brand new state.

Thanks for the reply pal, and the turbo has been sitting for quite a few months. I picked it up off a friend who parted out his gst project.

Maybe about 5-6 months that the turbo hasnt been ran.. Probably more as my friend bought it off someone who had totaled it.

That thing's in pretty rough shape- it's not long for the world with that much play.

My recent Holset hx40 was similar when I first got it used and hadn't run for many months as well. After rebuilding it has been holding solid no problem.

I'd get it rebuilt, I rebuild all my used turbo's. If you've never rebuilt one, I'd get someone experienced to do it for you so you have a good peace of mind that is done correctly. Either someone in your area, or ship it to a recommended forum member. Won't cost much.

Im going to see if i could get away with it till it blows smoke. The turbo wont see any abuse or any wot pulls. Just a basic daily DSM till i get link and slap on my 18g back on. Thanks guys
