T25 Questions

Hi everyone, I just picked up a 95 GSX. It has pretty low miles for the year, 84k. It needs some work, but I bought it as a summer project. The car came with the stock turbo. A friend of mine and I were taking apart the turbo, and I think 3 of the exhaust fins were bent when the hot side of the turbo and the o2 housing came off. So, for financial reasons, I want to rebuild the turbo. So my question is where can I find a replacement exhaust turbine, and a quality rebuild kit? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks, Cj.

Replacing the turbine means getting a new shaft which entails a full balance to be performed. You will spend more money fixing the t25 compared to buying a good used one or just upgrading to a better turbo.

or what about buying a CHRA from garrett? cheaper then new turbo and tiny bit more expesive then a nice used one.

As Scott stated, you can find at least a 14B in good condition (and that performs better and for less money) than dumping unnecessary cash into a T25. BTW, if you're really stuck on staying with the T25 setup, there's no reason to spend money. There are members (such as trusted wisemen) who will offer you their T25s for just a shipping charge. Just a thought.

Believe it or not, I still rebuild and sell a few rebuilt T25's here and there to guys who are totally satisfied with the performance of the stock turbo on their otherwise-stock car.

Like many have suggested above, you're going to spend more on the replacement turbine and balancing than what you could buy a good used T25 for.
