should i use Synthetic oil in a 170k mile 1G AWD TSI Talon. It has a Evo III 16G big. Brand new just broken in. I dont know what oil is in it now. But i was seeing what oil i should use.

Everyones going to give you different opinions - i tried it in my 96 tsi awd with 115000 miles and it smoked like a freight train -flushed it went back to regular and it only smokes a little when you get on it everything i ever tried synthetic in smoked and gave me bad results so i wont use it and my buddy that owns a machine shop and has been building engines for years wont use it or recomend it either so good luck everyones going to have their opinion

Royal Purple fully synthetic 10w30 for me :)

I have been using a synthetic blend in mine with great results but like the others have said everybody has an opinion so just weigh all the opinions and decide for yourself what route you want to take

Some people say that you shouldn't use synthetic in high milage engines because it can possibly lead to leaks. However, I've never had this problem. Although it's really personal preference, I would switch if you can and just keep and eye on things.

synthetic oils do tend to leak for some reason ...
i use 15-45 W conventional .....

10-30W synthetic

Mobile 1 full synthetic for me, only 110k on my motor with basically highway miles and lady driven. But no problems so far. Thinking about switching to royal purple, but I'm already paying 60 bucks an oil change, I really don't want to pay another 20...It all just depends on how well the motor was maintained and driven.

Switch to synthetic and never look back. Don't believe any of the bs people say about it either, they're all myths (like it causes leaks, etc).
