i am shoping for some control arms and what i believe is called compression arms. I cant seem to find any people talking about them and whitch is better. my passenger side control arm (its the top one) the bushing is shot their is bearly anything in it. i dont plan on draggin it im building for rally and i dont think i want oem. so if anyone can help i would be thank full

well that what im trying to figure out. would oem be just as good. cause i can save money that way. but im going to get new ones for shure. if they are oem im going to order through my shop i get it for caust.

i see you do some rally in ## pics do u have oem controll arms
or after market

so back to my original question is aftermarket control arms worth the money. or shuld i just go with poly bushings

Check out rockauto.com. And are you talking about the upper ball joint?

Ahh one of the vendors on here just made some tubbular control arms, but It slipped my mind.. Check the link or hit the supporting vendors yourself..Parts Catalog - DSMtuners

I know exactly what you're talking about. I was just looking at them the other day! A buddy is ordering them, ill ask him where hes getting them.

yea my upper ball joint is the worst im changing them all. just want to no if aem controll arms are worth the investment. im not doing performance just yet. im getting my handeling as good as i can first.

That kit is showing only the upper bushings on the shock. Its two bushings.
I don't think any company makes ball joint boots for the 2g. Even the master kits that have pretty much every bushing they make for our cars don't have all the bushings.

To the OP. The bushings will stiffen everything up nice for a minimal cost. I don't even know where you could find some tube or aluminum control arms. If you do find them your probably talking $500 or more. If its just for weekend fun I would say go with the bushings and ball joints.

yea thats what i have seen, they are lik 750 each. thank you for your imput. im gana go with some bushing and a lower controll arm for 150 each. my friend said they shed some time off his lap. Off topic question but im rebuilding a motor to put in im leaving stock turbo but would a port job on the head be worth my time. im doing it my self but if im only gana see 10hp gain im not gana do it. i dont plan on doing and bolt on's or major build on the head. mostly stock

Just do a mild port match to get rid of any turbulance. Why just a stock turbo? Get a t28 or have yours converted to a t28. Same size and look externally and direct bolt on just like the t25.

You can order an OE knuckle kit for real cheap. I think the numbers are mr325009 and mr325010. You get both lower arms and a new knuckle.

if I do that would i need feul injectors and tuning device pump ect. I dont realy want to start tunning just yet. maby over this winter ill invest. but if i can boost like 13 with th t28 then turn boost up later on i might look into that.

I dont think youd need different injectors with a T28. Im pretty sure you can bolt up a EvoIII 16g and run stock boost without having to tune. So im guessing you can do the same with a T28. Even stock boost youll see noticeable gains!

ok thats good to know. ill keep that in mind for this summer. im not trying to go into high hp gains its fwd and ill break traction in auto cross. Iv just noticed i kept saying rally, i ment auto cross.

So i have been doing research on tuning, let me say that im used to building american muscle not imports, but if it was my way I would have started with them at age 10 instead.
So back to my question when I start tuning what are things I need. I think i read some where that I need a 95 ecu or an eprom ecu? what is that, also when I get into it is it going to be kinda self explanitory or is there something I can read about it. Im just kinda intimidated by the messing with what the factory tuned it to.

can any one give me some advice, either with what i need to where i can look at to learn some things about tuning? appreciate it

Since you have a 2gb ecu you can use a Tactrix 2.0 Openport tuning cable ($179). Also you'll need a nice wideband (AEM UEGO or LC1) to fine tune. With ceddy mods you can reflash your ecu and you can expect 15-20 hp gain just from reflashing. Ceddy Mods is free and gives you launch control, anti-lag, speed density, knock sensor, and you can tune fuel maps.

yea it does. when i hook up the scan took to clear codes or look at codes. When I go into the data part and it talks about tps % and spark adv% and fuel consumption and so forth is that the type of things I would be playing with.

Hit up member Stangmurdera. He has a bunch of 2gs he was parting out. You can probably get that control arm for cheap!

Whew you had me worried there :ohdamn:. After reading your first post about rallying I had to read every post to see if you meant performance rally . 2g front suspension is well known to not hold up to performance rally pounding - they all break due to not being strong enough with that split fork design which is why you never see them. I've driven and worked hundreds of rallies for decades. I watched a guy on his very first rally put $20k upgrades into his 2g, ignoring everyones advice about the suspension (he claimed he had bought some special super strong steel aftermarket fork and strut). He broke the fork on the very first stage and then got to sit by the roadside for 6 hours and watch all the 1g's go by. But autocross you should be fine.

ok thank you and yea sorry about the confusion, i dont think a fwd will do good in a rally. But im not a straight line guy i have ran many cars down a track in a straight line. I like to drive my car and push it almost as far as it will go. But thanks for your imput i have red your posts befor and you know what you are talkin about so ill take your advice without doubt. Poly bushing's will hold up for now. I might invest if i get realy serious but i just want to have fun with my first dsm. I have always loved them so i might just get way to into it. witch isnt a bad thing right.
