I hate to thread revive, but there's no need to clutter the site with another thread. Is there a member among us that knows the thread diameter and pitch of the above listed part number 40387c locknut? My 40387c decided to abandon ship during my morning commute and I need a quick replacement to get me home. Thanks in advance guys.

Apparently I have chosen the wrong nut in the diagram. The nut I need secures the lower curved control arm ball joint to the spindle. I believe it is a 22mm nut which im guessing would be a 14 x 1.25?

I don't have access to CAPS or ASA right now because I'm at work but from the info I'm pulling up in Google that nut (40387C) is P/N MU431006 and is showing up as a 12mm and flanged. So its a 12mm nut thats 8mm x 1.25mm thread pitch and you'll want a lock washer on it unless you get OEM.

:dsm:

I get MU432101 for that lock nut but nothing anywhere tells me its size. Give me a minute and I can check the size for you.

Glad I caught that ninja edit before I posted; unfortunately that link/site doesn't work for me (502 Bad Gateway error or something). JNZ lists both part numbers (MU432101 for $3.02, MU431006 for $1.45) and normally they are up to date on that sort of thing.

In any case, the ball joint stud diameter is a bit over 12mm including the threads, so it would be safe to assume the nut is a M12. I'd also bet on the pitch being 1.25mm.

And now that site decided to work. My question, Corey, would be why you were looking up parts on a Pajero? LOL

I think this is more of what you were after: MU432101 - Front susp arm & member for Mitsubishi Eclipse MNGFLFJ - -INF ;)

For what it is worth and to clear up any confusion, the "12" listed under the spec for the Pajero nut is not the socket/wrench/head size. Rather, it is the nominal diameter of the bolt which is what you shop for when looking for specific nuts/bolts: nominal diameter (normally prefaced by M for metric bolts) x pitch x length (for bolts). The socket/wrench/head size can and likely will vary by the fastener's manufacturer.

The Pajero is a close cousin to the DSM, you didn't know that? ;)

So in this case Brian, the "12" being nominal diameter, is the diameter equal to the external diameter of the threads on the lower control arm, the diameter equal to the internal diameter of the threads of the nut, or both I guess?

I know it's an old thread but it's relevant. Does anyone have a diagram/list of the rear suspension bolts like above?

So can anyone help me out with the thread pitch for (front lower ball joint) 40378C from Post #2 in this thread? It's not M14x2.0, I think it's M14x1.5 or 1.25?

There is no 40378C...

If your talking about 40387C, it's M12x1.25.

78, 87 close enough :ohdamn:

Are you sure it's M12, cause the nut I took to Home Depot started to thread onto a M14x2.0 long enough for me to confirm the diameter. Of course it's some weird thread pitch I won't be able to get a die for.

What I get for waiting until less than a week before the first event to get the car back together.

Did you figure this out? Mine are lock nuts, but I've also seen where they can be flanged. Lowe's doesn't carry M14 nuts, and I tried a M12 bolt in the nut that I took off the curved control arm to see if I was wrong, and it didn't even touch the threads, or barely did anyways.

I haven't tried HD due to being inconvenient for the errands I was running.

**Edit: ordered a couple from O Reilly. Dorman part #433-014. It'll be a couple days since they don't stock them, but they are M14x1.5, so I'm going to bring an old lateral arm with me to see if it'll work.

Hate to reopen the thread but i cant find the thread pitch for 32166d or 32166c and m10 seems to be too small seems like a m12. But tried a m12 with 1.25 pitch and still seems too small any suggestions? Idk if the p/o tapped it or crossthreaded it or what.

32166D - M10x45 bolt, washer assembled it's listing it as an m10! If it's bigger then it's been redrilled and tapped for an m12 and it could be a 1.50 pitch,
