strut tower replacement

I might be getting a 98 GSX its got a rusted strut tower . Is the strut tower the same on a 2g body with a 420a motor? I can find good 2g 420a cars all day with good strut towers not soo many 4g63's

The body is the same for both. Go ahead and snag you one out of a 420a.

It would be much easier to weld a patch in than cutting a strut tower out of another car.

I just welded mine back up. Did the top first and then did the bottom. Also did the front crossmember, hatch and rear passenger side wheel well.

Wasn't too bad to do. Really easy if you remove ac and power steering lines.

It really isn't too much work. I think your idea to take it off of a donor car is better than welding a patch in. That way it will look normal and not look all deformed like if you welded in a patch.

I swear the strut towers out of a N/T are different then a 4G63 engine bay.

It depends on what part of the strut tower you need. Where the motor mounts are will be different because the 420 will have the mount on the passenger side and the 4G will have it on the driver side. But the very tops of them are the same.

There are different strut tower bars for N/T and Turbo 2gs ... The N/T strut bars don't fit in the turbo engine bays. They are too short. Don't know if that means anything to you.

Strut bars will fit both, depends on the type you use. Some wont clear one engine but some work for both cars.
