ok so it is lookin like i am going to have to change my piston rings so instead of doing that i figured why not just do it right and do a 2.3L stroker conversion instead. so i was doing some research on strokers and decided that i was going to do that but i dont know what the difference in the stages are (http://www.slowboyracing.com/shop.php?sid=&cat=2553) so more am i getting in the higher stages. i see on the 3rd stage i can up the compression but i really dont want to over do that so is it worth it to me to spend the extra couple hundred dollars or not worth my time. im not lookin to end up down the road running under 11s. thanks

oh ok i see now the rods are different but is it still worth it or should i just stick with eagle rods and save a few hundred

I don't see why you would need to go above stage I. Knowing that a stock bottom end can get you as fast as you want to go, any upgrade to forged internals is just extra insurance. You could always just give them a call, but I don't think they would suggest stage II unless you plan on reaching for 600hp.

I'm sure you will be happy with whatever you get, if saving a few bucks means something to you, then do it. :thumb:

I would recommend that you go with the stage 2 kit unless you don't want to spend the money right now. The eagle rods are very economical and upgrade from stock but if you intend on building it better in the future I would recommend the stage 2 kits with the Manley rods. Manley rods are much better than eagle and they may not do nothing for you now but they sure might help in the future :)

Do you have any info/facts to back that up? Sure he could step up every part that exists while doing a rebuild, but the poster said he's not looking to go crazy. This is exactly how rebuilds get out of control. "Well I might as well get the better this and the better that." Then all of a sudden your simple rebuild has turned into a $7k motor.

The fact is the Eagles will no doubt be more than good enough for what he plans to push. Yes you could always be "safe" and step it up another notch, but if you are concerned about a couple hundred bucks...

Some parts makes sense, ARP bolts, $20 more expensive than OEM and 1000 times safer. A set of rods that are going to hold up to 500hp easily, or rods that are as close to indestructable as can be?

Just my .02
