ok so here's the deal, trying to get everything together to build my motor, i'v been looking at rods and pistons and they are like 700 bucks for a set, i came across a stroker kit, crankshaft rods, pistons, rings, and all... how hard is it to install a stroker kit, i mean is it just like puting together a normal motor. and also do i have to do work to the head right away or no.. also which route would you guys go with, stroker kit, or just reg. pistons and rods. thanks for your input it will be used wisely:thumb:

lots of variables when it comes to stroker vs 2.0L build. They are assembled using the same techniquies, just don't forget that there is some clearencing that needs to be done for the stroker setup. good luck with which ever route you choose (my 2 cents are for the stroker!)

I like to stay with a 2 liter but understand why people like strokers ie, less turbo lag more torque etc, but i do know if you do a stroker you have to get 64 cams gears as of opposed to the 4g63 cam gears, but i have seen people run the 63 gears my friend does actually and his car still runs good but from what i hear he likes it alot.

You'll hear this reply more than you want if you are going to be that vague. What are you wanting to do with this car? How much do you want to spend? Speed costs $$$ and excessive speed costs excessive $$$$. Decide what you want from your car (drag, autox, or daily driver) and it will start to give you a direction or others may be able to help you better.

this car will be driven periodically and taken to the track... money not really an issue, it's just gonna be done step by step. i would like to see high hp numbers lets say 500's one day maybe more, its just that pistons and rods are like 700 and i can get a stroker kit for 1500

Where are you getting pistons AND rods for $700? Are they forged? Are the rods i-beam, h-beam, what? Just saying you can get pistons and rods for 700 doesn't really give any info. And as far as the stroker kit, where are you looking to purchase it from? You don't want to be cutting any corners or trying to save cash when building a motor up. Make sure you take the block and the kit to a reputable machine shop and have all the machine work that may be necessary done. Also, if they even ask you if you want it balanced or not, walk away. It's not an option, it should be done. Compared to the total cost of the build, balancing the rotating assembly is a cheap way to insure that your bearings will last much longer. Also, a girdle isn't a bad idea either.

And if you're looking for 500 hp, is that 500 hp at the crank, or at the wheels? What kind of turbo would you like to run? Would that horsepower goal be on pump gas (i.e., you'll be running the same tune every day), or would you like to see a tamer number around the street, and that amount of power on race gas? Also, the type of driving you'll be doing will depend on the powerband you want to be able to use. In any case, best of luck to you on your build :thumb: There are a lot of stroker guys on this site that can answer all your questions in detail, so as long as you keep asking questions and doing research, I'm sure everything will work out great.

most of the big names run 2.0's just got get a set of eagle rods and a set of pistons(wiesco, arias, je, ect....), that will be more then enough to handle your goals. spend the $800 elsewhere.

I like to stay with a 2 liter but understand why people like strokers ie, less turbo lag more torque etc, but i do know if you do a stroker you have to get 64 cams gears as of opposed to the 4g63 cam gears, but i have seen people run the 63 gears my friend does actually and his car still runs good but from what i hear he likes it alot.

actually the 2.3L stroker doesn't require the 64 cam gears. You only need the 64 cam gears if you're building the 2.4L hybrid(64block with 63 head.)

if your looking for a good stroker kit check out http://www.ffwdconnection.com/strokernew.shtml and scroll down to the rotating assembly part, these guys cryo and fully balance the rotating assmebly.. in fact the pistions I believe are already intalled on the rods(from what I can tell from reading that page). There a bit more expensive than most stroker kits but they come pre-balanced and they are cryo'ed, which is nice. now if only they offered a forged eagle crank!!!!

its not hard to do at all but here is this thing go get the rod crank pistons turned so the way the same this will make you engine rev higher fast and soomthere

my advice to you is to go with the 2.3 stroker kit. you'll be SOO much happier. I've done it as well. Before i had it done, i had a friend who had a 2.3 stroker on his 98 gsx with only a Evo III 16g turbo. let me tell ya. It was just a tad bit wet outside almost dry from the rain. I went into first, put it in second and floored it. ALL THE WHEEL BROKE LOOSE! that thing was a monster! So i was sold. Now i have a 2.3 with a 50 trim. Best combination for that low end grunt to get you going with lil lag and top end like you wouldnt believe!

You have the money. Spend it. You'll be happier.

I believe andy has a stroker with a 50trim, you should talk to him! In my opinion a 50trim turbo is the smallest that I would run with a stroker. Anything smaller wont be able to hold boost till redline as the stroker motors are air hungry!!

If you want to do a budget build go with evo 9/8 pistons on 6 bolt rods or 2g pistons on 6 bolt rods. If you got the money I would keep it at 2.0 and go with wiseco pistons and eagle h beams. Good luck:thumb:

i have a 94 4G63 GS N/T WITH A AEM FUEL RAIL. WHATS A GOOD FUEL PRESSURE REGULATOR SET UP?

IS THERE ANY 2.0 4G63 N/T STROKER'S OUT THERE. I have a 94 GS mitz with a built head, stock bottem end, 50 shot. Just wondering should i build the bottom end for turbo? or how much HP can i get with high compressoin nitrous stroker engine????

This thread is over FOUR YEARS OLD. How did you manage to think this would be relevant instead of starting your own thread? Build the bottom end for turbo, or do a stock turbo shortblock. Gonna be your best route for continuous, reliable power.
