I was driving my tsi the other night and i heard tink tink, sounds like some bolts fell off. It turns out the bolts that hold the axle on the drivers side of the block fell out. Well i limped the car home, and jacked it up. One of the bolts was welded into the block, so i know my dad was saying something about a helicoil to get it out or weld a bolt onto it heat it up then as soon as it cools put a wrench on it. This is the lower bolt by the way. The top bolt i had to go get from the junk yard come to find out the top and bottom are the same size and threads that go into the back of the block. I tried just to put the top on back in but it doesn't tighten. Long ass story short question, can i tap and die that hole a little bigger and put different bolts to hold the axle up?
