Ok so heres the problem my flywheel came loose. The 6 bolts that hold it down got stripped. I was wondering what caused this. And what can i do to it. Should i just rethread the holes. Will i need thicker bolts? Would it be weaker than before. Any suggestions to what i should do would be great. Also where could i find the new bolts. Thanks.

Ok so i found were to buy the bolts. Now i just gotta now how to rethread the crank. Can someone please help.

Well th thread is not that bad i thibk its fixable i could take pictures tommorow morning. But if o were to rethread them with a tap would it be weaker? Also what size tap would i use. And will i be anle to use the same sizebolts. Ill post pics tommorow morning. Its too dark now. Thanks

I would think that perhaps your bolts were not torqued down enough, and couldve used some thread locker if it was not used. I would be a little nervous about rethreading for the bolts. I think it would be really hard first off and go forbid you didnt get it right.

Ok so what would you suggest that i do if rethreading is not the best way. Yeah i think the mechanic that put the block in didnt use thread locker.

Well, using thread locker is recommened with flywheel bolts, but its a little late for that now.

I would like to see how bad the bolts are, perhaps just new bolts will hold.

I have to see the bolt holes, if they are to far messed up you need to replace the crank. That would be the only way to fix this. You cant go another size bigger. If there is still loots of thread left you can retap and try to save what is left.

Alright so i looked at the thread and i think it could be saved. Hopefully it can. Cause i just got a fresh block less than a month ago. Can someone tell me what size tap i would need to try to use the same crank. I couldnt take a picture of the bolt holes cause my camera isnt that great. But i took apicture of the bolts. Maybe this will give u an idea of how the thread is.

Well the camera is on my phone. So i dont think that it has that. But basically all the silver is the thread that has been stripped off.

Yes the thread into the crank is stripped. Thats why i am trying to retap it if it is possible. I will be buying new bolts tommorow. But i dont know what size tap i should buy or if theres another way of doing this.

You can retap the crank and order a set of longer bolts(FP aluminum fw install kit) You will probably have to grind some of the length on the longer bolts but keep them long enough that they engage into the clean threads past the damaged area.

Finally some good news. What size would i have to buy the tap to retap the crank. Will i be able to buy it at a local auto parts store. Or is it a special size of something. Thanks.

Im not sure of the size off of the top of my head. Take a bolt to the auto parts store and find the appropriate tap size. Most advance and autozone wont have the tap but if you have a NAPA local, they will either have it or can order it for you.

Ok thanks im gonna go check at napa right now. Hopefully they do have it. One more question will it hold the same or will it be weaker.

I was unaware that its ok to retap those threads. Just seems like something you shouldnt be doing.

Good luck though, definitely remember to torque those bad boys down and to use lock tite.
