strange constant beep

I have noticed when i shut my car off and walk towards the front i can hear a faint constant beep like a heart monitor whent he heart dies. When i lift the hood it sounds like it is coming from the ECU area and after a while it ends and there is no more noise coming from that area. I am mentioning this to see if anybody can clue me in on what this noise is if it is a good or bad or just a regular noise. Thanks in advance.

i believe it is still in my car i just have it disconnected due to problems with it.

If the alarm still has power to it, it could be trying to give you a "fault code" letting you know something's wrong.
