Ok, so I've exhausted most all of my efforts to figure this out.
My car is AWD, but put a FWD trans in it while I did some work on my trans, and there is a Dyno day coming up I wanted to do. Car ran great for a week or two.
Now the car intermittently will lock me out of all gears. Sometimes it's just sitting in the driveway it and won't go into any gear, I can shut it off, put the car in gear, crank it with the clutch to the floor and it will roll forward. Other times I can get in it and run through the gears just fine.
I already had a new CMC and Slave in the car with less than 5K on them, but I replaced them again just to rule them out, and an SS clutch line, still same problem. I have a shep pedal assembly as well so I highly doubt that's the issue either.
The only thing I noticed is that I may have OVER shimmed the pivot ball, the fork is sitting pretty close to the engine, but I didn't really think that that would cause it, especially since its intermittent.
Any input is greatly appreciated as I've basically tapped out all of my options.
I actually think I got it figured out, I'll throw this out there and let some people bounce ideas around.
Doing some playing around I noticed that if I only push the clutch pedal in about 1/4 of the way at most, the car will shift gears smoothly, say I put it in 1st, and then push the pedal the rest of the way to the floor, the car will lurch forward, and make some unpleasant noises. Telling me that when it's pushed all the way to the floor, the clutch is engaging.
I came to the conclusion that the ball/fork is so over shimmed that its causing the TOB to push the center fingers of the PP so far that they actually make contact with the clutch disk and engage the clutch.
I can't really think of anything else that would cause such a thing so I'm going to pull the transmission and remove all of the shims and go from there.
